Arrogant selfish prick got what he deserved. The video shows a large heavy tinted SUV abandoned in the street. Not only that but at a bottleneck, within 500ft of a school. The man then returns crossing over 2 lanes, plus some islands running when he sees the cops.
Why couldn't he navigate to the other side of the street go around the block and have his kids hop in rather do that hoopla on a busy artery ? Getting lazy like the prissy soccer moms eh ? ?
I don't feel sorry for him all ! Just because you have kids doesn't give you card blanch to drive, obstruct, stop, cut, push any dam way you please
""The video starts when the cops have him cuffed""
Yes, channel #7 video does
Watch the whole thing on FIOS 1 where it starts with cops ticketing cars obstructing traffic. That's why you cant believe any TV news channel, the editors make "raw footage" look any way they want for political reasons or to keep your hands off the remote control.
Remember----Its all about anything to keep you hand off the remote control and view those sponsors.
Yep, if it's outside your car. (Littering) or refusing to sign a summons with an appearance date. (I think those are pink and yellow VTL codes) The "Nanny Yaa City's" getting pretty F__ed up just like California George. Bloombergs planning a $1000 ticket blitz with city wide no smoking laws too.
Anther asshole who feels he can resist/fight wth the police because he thinks he's right.Tearing up a ticket(summons) is a b misdemeanor under the vtl.Littering is merely an infraction that can be either a vtl summons,a criminal court summons,or an environmental control board summons. Bring back the "zero tolerance " days.
He got what he deserved. Snow doesn't give you the right to act like an asshole, nor does picking your kid up from school. He was wrong to double park, and should have taken the ticket he deserved and been done with it.
"Joe, if you don't throw the torn up ticket onto the street (littering), I don't see why tearing up a ticket isn't just a matter of free speech. "
If an officer feels he is disrespected he will arrest you, charges will be fabricated and there's not much you can do. Well the revolution will no be televised anyway.
I AGREE with the board here. If the guy was belligerent then the cops did what they were trained to do. BUT, as a parent there's a tremendous problem at schools with the logistics of dropping off and picking up the kids. This is something we cant avoid. They have to go to school, and they must return home. Unfortunently the schools done coordinate any type of traffic pattern that would facilitate this. It's a free for all. Endangering kids, having parents on edge fearing $115 tickets, and really making it difficult to do a simple task. LET's establish a school zone traffic pattern. Allowing teachers, and school employees to park close to the school, but at the same time designate areas for buses to load and unload AND for Parents to drop off and pick up. It's not that hard!
"Unfortunently the schools done coordinate any type of traffic pattern that would facilitate this. It's a free for all."
It's only a free-for-all when parents don't listen to school officials who tell them in no uncertain terms not to double park in front of the school and then the stupid flatfoot "school safety agent" won't get off his fat ass and tell the parents to move. (No, I'm not referring to PS 144 on 69 Avenue in Forest Hills!)
Hey you fat bastard, try legally parking a block or two away and walk to pick up your child at school. Too many lazy parents double and triple park so they don't have to walk. He got what he deserved.
He wasn't arrested for double parking, he was SUMMONSED for double parking. He was arrested for his actions that he himself escaltted by tearing up the ticket and becoming hostile towards the police. Everyone I grew up understood one thing, get in a cop's face and you end up face down on the ground with cuffs on. F him, he got what he deserved.
I have a hard time finding parking to ,sometimes I park 2 blocks away from my child's school. People are just lazy and park anywhere ;-( I see it everyday ;-( The guy thought he was above the law ;-( hopefully he learned his lesson ;-)
I went to both IS91 in Glendale and PS93 in Ridgewood. In both cases I lived under 2 miles from the school (to get a bus pass you had to live 2 or more miles). I had to walk 1.9 miles to an from school everyday, sometimes in the snow. Kids today are being raised spoiled overweight brats.
""LET's establish a school zone traffic pattern. Allowing teachers, and school employees to park close to the school"
No more new laws this is becoming a "Nanny State" These "mommys" think they own the dam street, when behind the wheel of an SUV grow balls and big mouths to boot. Let the kids walk like I did and the fat ass soccer moms (and dads) park their monoxide belching 8MPG SUV's and walk as well. --like everybody else
Perhaps if he parked a couple of blocks away and walked to school, he wouldn't be fat! I have people on my block who live 3 blocks from school and drive their kids. Then they park in the crosswalk so the kids who walk, can't be safe crossing the street. Don't blame this incident on the snow; these assholes double and triple park every day and feel that it's their right because they have to pick up their kids!!

EXACTLY ! I'm with the cops on this one, these inconsiderate self entitled assholes also cause accidents, enough of this BS ! And yes ! Most doing this live walking distance from the school. Especially in Queens.
Give them points (as in moving violations)so their workaholic husbands and insurance company's take away those SUV's
When these kids get to be workforce age all mommy and daddy's $$, houses and new cars will be gone and they still wont know how to wipe their ass! Between these a'O white parents and brown feral people squiring out more feral bonanza baby's the Asians are gonna own it all.
That's true. They are pu$$ys. I walked roughly a mile to and from school 4 times a day, 5 times a week and it didn't kill me. My mom arranged a neighbor to walk me and his son to 122 when I went there.
I am a grossly-overweight woman with knee, back and ankle problems, but I would not think twice of walking for 10 or 15 minutes a few times a day to pick up my child.
Maybe he should have been arrested for child endangerment for placing his kid in harm's way to get into a car in the middle of the street. Go by aby school practically. Parents think they have carte blanche to double park. It is ridiculous. Ticket them all.
My mother used to drive us to school on the way to work and drop us off at the curb. Granted she didn't do anything illegal, but driving your kids to school in and of itself is not a crime, especially if they are in grammar school.
Children learn best by example. All the double parking parents are contributing to the raising of another generation who think traffic rules don't apply to them when a situation is inconvenient to them. Park legally and walk to your child and walk the child back to the legally parked car!

No, you are right, it isn't the 1940s. In the 1940s children could walk to school. Today, we can roll them downhill like beachballs.
Why do I see children sitting in seats in buses when 80 year-olds are about to expire in front of them? (the big signs saying "handicapped section should provide a clue.)
I have seen them stay seated when faced with a cerebral-palsy sufferer, and I once offered a seat while my own legs were still in braces from a workplace related injury. There is no shame.

The video starts when the cops have him cuffed, so what are you talking about?
It's against the law to tear up a ticket?

What! no parking? Oh well it looks like its time for a bike lane. That will solve everything.
The YouTube video which was sent into Channel 7 starts with the guy already cuffed.

anyone driving a heavily tinted SUV is an ahole anyway - so who cares if he got a ticket.
I don't have to see the video - the driver probably is as arrogant as his car . . .

Feeling disrespect is now a crime?
Get me a good lawyer and I'll sue the flatfoot.
Is this America or not?

All my time at PS 19 in Corona in the early 70's, I NEVER got picked up by car. I used to walk home with my older sister and her friends.
I went to both IS91 in Glendale and PS93 in Ridgewood.
In both cases I lived under 2 miles from the school (to get a bus pass you had to live 2 or more miles).

Schools ought to be drive-thru, with a pick-up window to deposit and withdraw your children. There. No more double-parking nonsense.
Bloomberg wants to run our city like it's a company, so let's have our schools act like banks.

What ever happened to walking to school??? Taking the bus (yellow or public?).
Why must we put one child into a 7-seat truck to take him a few blocks away to school????
How about because you make sure your kid gets there safely?
@anonymous above
How about setting a good example to your children? What will the child learn from this lazy parent?
My mother used to drive us to school on the way to work and drop us off at the curb. Granted she didn't do anything illegal, but driving your kids to school in and of itself is not a crime, especially if they are in grammar school.

Time to move those legs and pump those arms.
"How about because you make sure your kid gets there safely?"
All these parents who drive a few blocks to get their kids there safely don't make it safe for the kids who are walking.
