From Fox 5:
The roof of a vacant building in Queens collapsed Friday evening. The FDNY responded to 132-07 111th Avenue in Ozone Park at about 4:50 p.m.
Firefighters cordoned off the area and searched the site, but did not find anyone.
It is not clear what caused the roof collapse, but heavy snow from multiple storms is suspected.

There may be snow on the roof but plenty of heat in the furnace. Oops. Did I say that out loud?

Abandoned buildings build up snow on the roof because they have no heat. When you have heat in a building some of the snow will melt because heat rises and eventually reaches the top of the building and melts some snow. No heat= no melting.
