Someone understands the role of the press!

Dear Mr. Larry Mendte,

Would you please do a seminar for publishers of Queens weekly papers? They need to understand what their purpose is. You seem to get it. They don't. As evidenced by this....

You want this guy to do a seminar on how to be an ethical journalist?!

What you linked to has nothing to do with the point I made about Queens journalism. Get a clue.

Every newspaper blared last week about Steinway Street's tiny Egyptian community.

Sure, tweeding by the pols. But WTF does this have to do with the day to day lives of nearly 3 million in the boro?

Nothing.

The papers used to be interesting oh say 15 years ago. Now they are so much press releases from politicans and developers.

But that is the point.

All the halmarks of democracy in place but empty of any significance or meaning.

People are disengaged, they feel hopeless, and enough clueless seniors and tweeded immigrants vote for the bastards ensuring that nothing changes.

The only question I have is why are 3rd world countries seeing through the bull shit of official media, crafting a different reality, then DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT?

You think someone who puts Bill O'Reilly on a pedestal understands the role of the press????

I'm disappointed in you crappy.

Queens Crapper said...

How did he put Bill O'Reilly on a pedestal? He said his interview was good and Obama's responses were equally as good. He also said reporters have the duty to ask tough questions of electeds. That's the point being made here. You lefties need to stop the knee-jerk anti-Fox b.s. already.

Crappy, don't bother with the lefties, they aren't actual lefties but hungry, English-speaking conscripts sitting at terminals somewhere in China busily tapping away. Welcome to the dystopian future.

Queens Journalism = oxymoron

If the local press is so bad and you're so brilliant, why do you keep posting their stories? I read them and you both to stay informed.

Is this Tweedle Dum posting? Where else do you get to group comment on the lack of research and writing skills of articles in the weaklies!!! Besides, Crapper has posted original material as well. Try to keep up!

Arrest her already

Thank you. I could use a rest. Stealing your money and using it for nefarious purposes takes a lot out of me...at my advanced age. Every time I fart dust comes out.

What the hell do you get from the Queens weeklies to stay informed- the latest tiresome tweeding photo op or the latest tiresome breathless development project?

I rely on Queens Crap to give us the opportunity to post comments and news the weaklies won't cover! I come here for the behind the scenes news. I stay for the humor.

PS I hope some "community leaders" are shaking in their boots. Right, Claire? I hope the government is fitting you for an orange tweed prison uniform as we speak!

And the Times Ledger group has the nerve to charge 50 cents for the same old drivel and crap you get for free in the other rags.

So why are my orange prison jumpsuits all wrinkled?

20 years ago, there were brave staffers and citizens who blew whistles on corruption.

Today, while Wikileaks blows whistles on world leaders, local leaders remain untouchable by the local press.
