The seedy side of Sunnyside

From Sunnyside Post:

Manolo’s, the Mexican restaurant on the corner of Greenpoint Ave. and 47th Street, has been closed for some weeks. But the police are looking over the store for suspicious narcotics related activity. A court order prohibits the store owners from removing items from the premises.

And also from Sunnyside Post:

One person was stabbed and four others were slashed during the Friday night brawl at Casa Romano, police said.

The owners and operators of Casa Romano–located at 39-20 Queens Blvd–have both been charged with selling alcohol to minors. Enid Nieves, 49, was arrested for “criminal nuisance 2″ , for selling alcohol to minors that resulted in one stabbing and four slashings. However, no one died during Friday night’s chaos.

Wilfred Nieves, 25, was also arrested on the same charges, police said.

At this point, the Sunnyside Post is still trying to ascertain whether arrests have been made as a result of the stabbing and slashings themselves. The police press office did not have this information at hand.

Many nearby business owners — who operate between 39th and 40th on Queens Blvd — were victims of Friday night’s fight as well. Some had their windows smashed when the big brawl spilled out onto the street.

Hey what going on there? There is normally a nice quiet couple of blocks of restaurants that normally attract nice people for a night out. I guess the gangs have over-taken the area and the Police are asleep at the wheel in this quiet area.

Diverse! Bustling! Just like next door Astoria.

The Coronas and Elmhurst of tomorrow.

BTW, what ever happened to the civics in the area?

Must have been Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City causing all the trouble!

She probably thought Manolo's was a cheap place in Queens to buy some Blahnik's!

Is that a crime? Shouldn't we just "look the other way", because underage drinking is "part of their vibrant culture"?

NOT!!!

ROUND UP THE USUAL SUSPECTS!!!!

Read the article, the place has been closed down and is under investigation by the police. How are they asleep at the wheel?
