From the Daily News:
Detectives are investigating the mysterious death of a teenager found sprawled on a Queens sidewalk with blood pouring from his head, police said Saturday.
A passerby saw Nicholas Cordova, 17, lying lifeless on 85th Ave. in Woodhaven Tuesday evening and called 911, police said.
Cordova, who had suffered a head injury, was rushed to Jamaica Hospital where he remained in a coma for several days, police said. While he was hospitalized, doctors and detectives realized his head wound was caused by a bullet, police said.
Cordova, a student at the High School for Construction Trades, Engineering and Architecture, died late Friday. "I was shocked," said the dead teen's uncle Donald Blinn. "At the time, no one knew he was shot."
Cordova - who was adopted - was one of 10 children living at his parents' Richmond Hill home, Blinn said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
From the NY Post:
A 17-year-old senior at the HS for Construction Trades, Engineering and Architecture in Queens was fatally shot in the head at point-blank range during a dispute in Woodhaven, cops said.
Nicholas Cordova was found in front of 84-27 85th Ave. at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, cops said.

One of our residents who lives on that block says there is no 84-27 on 85th Ave. This resident is not aware of any incident on that block last week. This was reportedly at 6:45 pm on Primary Night. Definitely mysterious.

Maybe they got the address wrong, but as a friend of Nick's, I can tell you he was shot and killed just a little over a block from his home
Our condolences on the loss of your friend -- it's an unspeakable tragedy for one so young to lose their life.
If this happened near his home, then it appears the media may have gotten this wrong as he lived in Richmond Hill.
Ed
The media did in fact did make an error on where it occurred. He was killed at the address written in the paper but that location is in Richmond Hill not Woodhaven.
The shooting took place on
85th Ave between 105th & 106th St in Richmond Hill.
Candles and flowers still mark the location of where he was shot.
I don't want to be disrepectable but I heard it was a drug deal gone bad.
Drug deal gone bad or not. A 17 YEAR OLD CHILD was murdered.
It's terribly sad. Beyond sad actually. If there are people out there that would take a life over something so trivial Society has a huge problem.
No cops on the street......the bad guys have no fear and are carrying guns and like to use them.Get into an arguement and you may get killed.....
Nurder is a crime, in any language. The detectives in that area can't be worse than the rest. How many murder cases are really solved? Don't believe the stats, because no one questions the police. Also if you phone your local precint about your active case, you could be threatened with an arrest for, harassement! Believe it or not.
Don't let Bloomy fool ya. NYPD's homicide clearance rate is less than 60%.

Not bad odds if you're trying to get away with murder in NYC. Lots to do with the "Stop Snitchin'" movement. Would "Friend" drop a dime if he knew something?

Nicholas was a drug dealer. it was a drug deal gone wrong.
Did it matter honestly that the articles got the address wrong. the matter is that a 17 year old got killed. I live on 107th street between park lane south and 85th ave, and let me tell you its UPSETTING to watch all this boys friends gather round lighting candles wondering who in the world did this to their friend. Drug deal gone wrong or not, he was still 17 years old and now the family is left with questions that are going to remain unanswered. Rest In Peace Nicolas Cordova
Its a shame how some wrote it was a drug deal gone bad as if they really knew. If they are writing this as a fact its a bigger shame they didn't provide the information to the police in order to help his family who is in so much pain wondering why this happen and hoping they catch who did this. If you're on this board and you know call 577-TIPS otherwise let Nick rest in peace. God Bless.
no one knows what happen so shut the hell up and stop posting shit that you don't even know. If you know the facts and how it went down then your the guilty ones...... How about some peace for the family stop posting bullshit...... Get your fact straight...

Nicholas is a wonderful person with a big heart and would have given you the shirt off his back. he is someones son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin,he was everyone's friend. In our hearts a memory will be kept of the one we loved and will never forget.. AND THAT'S WHO HE IS......
Did it matter honestly that the articles got the address wrong.
Absolutely. They didn't just get the address wrong, they were in the wrong neighborhood. They were off by about 22 blocks.
What's the point of publishing an article asking for the public's help, only to wildly misstate where the crime took place? That doesn't help catch the scumbag who did this.

Nick Cardova was my best friends brother and a student at my school ; if anyone wants to confess please do cause your only holding that burden on you and his family ; Rest in peace Cardova
Nick Cordova you are forever young and live on in our hearts. In death Nick gave life through the NY Organ Donor Network. I would not want to be in this murder’s shoes knowing that Nick lives inside another.
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young.

It breaks my heart that they haven't found his killer yet, he definitely knew who did it. He definitely didn't deserve that, I remember being in St. John's Lutheran with him and staying in contact during highschool. There's people who cause their demise and then they're are people like Nicholas , outgoing, charismatic, and he was true to himself and made everyone laugh.. We miss you nick #nicklives
