Quinn declines DeBlasio's request

From the Daily News:

Council Speaker Christine Quinn today outlined long-needed additional disclosure requirements and procedures for doling out the near $50 million worth of member items— AKA “pork” — the council distributed to thousands of non-profit groups, some of which have figured in major scandals for the Council in recent years, reports Frank Lombardi here at City Hall:

But she politely rebuffed Public Advocate Bill de Blasio’s request that the Council turn over to him for posting on his website the applications that groups seeking funding for the coming FY 2011 budget are in the process of submitting.

She said the Council will begin posting those applications itself, starting a year from now for the FY 2012 budget year.

Individual members are free to turn over their applications to de Blasio if they wish to do so.

Will you do that? She was asked.

“No,” she shot back.

She can't hoist her fat ass off the huge slush fund she is sitting on. What a pig. It's our money. We need full disclosure and she should set a good example for the rest of the council members. She is absolutely disgusting.

attention QUEENS who voted for BLOOMBERG. This woman is running for mayor 20103 so start spreading the new about her NOW. This woman belongs in jail for the slush fund, for overturning term limits, for giving herself a 25% raise and raising her staff budget by 10% while NYPD and FDNY faces cutbacks.

Let's make her an example and remove her from office. She is not much more than a common thief!!!! And, as previously stated, it our money that she's stealing.

Quinn did not want DiBlasio to take the credit for publicly disclosing pork money.

DiBlasio could set an example, by releasing the list of his members' items during his years of council service. Why didn't he do it while in office?

If DiBlasio was serious, he would request the application records pursuant to the Freedom of Information Law. By not taking that step, DiBlasio is permitting Quinn to get away with the non-disclosure.
