Parks denies there's a problem

From NY1:

A new study obtained exclusively Wednesday by NY1 shows dangerous conditions at city parks have gone unfixed for too long.

Investigators for State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli found it sometimes took weeks to correct about 50 percent of the hazardous conditions it surveyed in parks across the five boroughs.

One of the parks listed in the report was the Astoria hockey rink where walls were splintered and had dangerous bolts exposed.

Officials say the conditions were observed more than a month after it was supposed to be fixed. On Wednesday, there were still jagged places in spots.

Well, be fair. Its Astoria .... which is being hollowed out.

How about nicer communities, say Hunters Point and the Queens waterfront, where the good folks of Astoria are paying taxes to help prep those communities for developers who are making lots of money.

Look at 2 Coves - $250,000 of dirt brought in...or so they say.

best in the world?!?!

HA!

That's the kind of attitude that our gov't is infested with. How dare you criticize NYC, we're the best!

um - no we're not - not for a while now...take a look around

re:Planyc's schoolyards to "play"ground project at P.S. 159 Q in Bayside. thanks to q.crapper,14 planted trees which would have destroyed the teens ball diamond were removed on 8/13.we are hoping that the 19 benches will go too. the benches prevent teens from playing a full-court basketball game.a sewer drain is located, under one half-court b/b rim and in the center lane of the small acrylic walking/jogging track. i see a lawsuit in the n.y.c. taxpayers future! additions needed: restore ball diamond, sprinklers, drinking fountain, swings, handball &lavatory. remove gazebo on 3rd base. the 5 basketball half-courts are too close together for 3on 3 games. click,nyc.gov/html/dpr pgs 31&32 for full report on projects coming to your area. it states an increase of options for competitive athletics, not obstructing play spaces by trees.....now if only the local culprits will stop locking the P.S.159 space 24/7?

Do these people ever get out of town? NYC's such a slum compared to other American cities. Check out the parks in Chicago and Seattle.

Kissena is filthy and scary - there are a lot of homeless people living near the trails in the wooded area. Charming Francis Louis Park has a beach that's strewn with garbage. All over Queens the Parkies are chain-smoking and blabbing on their phones. I hope they're doing community service and not getting paid to stand around and do nothing!
