From the Times Ledger:
Community Board 11 approved a plan this week that would rezone 50 blocks in Bayside as well as a new zoning district designation that would restrict height and front yard requirements on homes in the district.
CB 11, which weighed the two measures at its monthly meeting Monday, voted 35−1 in favor of a plan to rezone portions of North Bayside and East Flushing in a project split between the board and Flushing’s CB 7.
The board also voted unanimously to approve an amendment to establish a new R1−2A zoning district, which would allow for a maximum 35−foot roof height.

I believe it is North Flushing, not Auburndale. But part of the Auburndale section of Flushing is being rezoned in the North Flushing study.
There was a separate article about North Flushing rezoning which I will post tomorrow, so I think this is different. They call this one "East Flushing".
Time to rezone Astoria, Dutch Kills and L.I.C. as well.
See, now Bloomie is fast-tracking rezonings. As if we'll forget how he ignored our demands for years. I can bet one neighborhood after another is going to be rezoned. What a pig.
We're having a meeting Thursday where John Young will present the Maspeth-Midville-Glendale rezoning study. It's only been 5 years.
Expect him to have bunch of prepared answered as to why this is happening so many years later. In the end, you can't be mad at him. I doubt he loves being yelled at at these meetings. I've spoken to him several times. He actually seems like a nice guy. Don't think his skin is thick enough for the job. Burden's the boss.
Well in our case he has a special set of answers because he told us in 2006 that we should allow Glendale to be added to the study because it would make it easier on the staff and it would only delay the job by a couple of months tops. Then a year later when nothing had come of the plan, we were told that it would take a lot longer because Glendale was added to the study and it's a big area.
In that case, Christina, before the meeting you may want to take a valium. Or two.
Okay, I got a statement which clears this up:
Nope - The Times Ledger made a mistake...this is the North Flushing rezoning.
There is a portion of Auburndale being rezoned (north of the LIRR tracks) as well as a part of northwestern Bayside that was not included in the Bayside rezoning in 2005. Those portions of the rezoning are located in Community Board 11.
The Auburndale rezoning - which is over 300 blocks in size - will hopefully be certified in the next six months..."
Paul Graziano, urban planning/historic preservation consultant (submitted the North Flushing and Auburndale rezonings through Councilman Tony Avella's office to push them for adoption)
The western shores of Queens will never get down zoned.
It's been boldly red-lined for years.
All part of the plan...
or should I say plot?
The "south shall rise again" and the Messiah make his second coming
before Astoria, Dutch Kills or LIC
will get any attention from the greedy Bloomberg administration!
