Diplomacy begins at home

Afghan diplomat Mohammed Fagirad charged in all-day wife beating

An Afghan diplomat was charged Friday with beating his wife "like a dog" for more than 15 hours in their Queens home, prosecutors said.

Mohammed Fagirad, 30, a vice consul at the Afghanistan Consulate, brutalized his wife inside their Flushing home from about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday until nearly midnight, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

During the attack, Fagirad bit, slapped, choked and beat the 22-year-old woman with a belt, pushed her down a flight of stairs and sat on her chest, prosecutors said.

At one point, prosecutors said, Fagirad threw his wife up against a wall, held her there by the neck and then let her drop to the floor, where he beat her with a belt.

Fagirad told police his "wife was a dog and he was going to treat her like a dog," prosecutors said.

When Fagirad left the home, his wife fled and went to the 109th Precinct stationhouse, where she filed a domestic violence report, prosecutors said. She then returned home.

When Fagirad returned, he demanded his wife's cell phone and called police to file a counterclaim, prosecutors said.

The woman, who was not named, was hospitalized for bruises and scratches to her neck and back.

Prosecutors said Fagirad's limited diplomatic immunity only covers work-related infractions.

He was awaiting arraignment last night in Queens Criminal Court.

Panzer, you named yourself after a Nazi tank. Fine. Domestic violence is not funny.

maspeth mom says..

He did all this and he is a Diplomat - thats really ironic.
But the ugly truth is where this guy comes from he probably is a diplomat. Most people who live in in Afghanistan are savages. Last month a 13 year girl was raped by her fellow countrymen. What did she get for complaining.. She was herded into a small arena and stoned to death by 1,000 fellow human beings. This is the mentality of these people of 3rd world nations.

Its just a shame is has doplomatic immunity.

He named himself after any German tank - Panzer = Tank, not necessarly Nazi

Most German Tanks - Nazi or not, carried names of "Cats" from the current Leopard II, back to the later WWII tanks. The earlier tanks just carried Model Numbers/Types - Pkzw I, II, III etc

If you're going to label billions of people as "savages," you should at least know how to write proper English, which I presume is your native language.

The irony is hilarious though, thanks.

Yes, all of what Maspeth Mom says must be untrue because she had a couple of typos in the last line of her comment.

There are not billions of people in Afghanistan, either, Adeez. Learn your geography and world history better.

F~!@#$%G ANIMAL! And they call us brutal and arrogant! Wow! Amazing!

We have thousands of our men and women in Afghanistan to "liberate" this wretched stink hole, and one of their "diplomats" beats the hell out of his wife right on our turf?

"Religion of Peace"???? as Jorge Bush once claimed???

Obama and company are actually losing patience with the corruption of Hamid Karzai's government, as a recent NY Times articles attests.

Bring our troops home! Let the Afghans stew in their own kabab juices! Send the diplomat and his paisanos back to Afghanistan! Let them engage in valuable contributions to humanity such as memorizing the Koran front to back, and reciting it while standing on their heads back in Kabul!

A) She didn't really make a factual argument subject to independent objective verification. Rather, she just hurled insults.

B) I wasn't speaking to the "truth" of her statements; I was pointing-out the irony.

"There are not billions of people in Afghanistan, either, Adeez. Learn your geography and world history better."

If you're going to try to call me out, pay better attention next time.

She said "[t]his is the mentality of these people of 3rd world nations." Now, considering that many deem Middle Eastern nations, South America, Africa, and India "third world," then yes, we are indeed speaking of billions.

Thanks for playing though.

Mohammed Fagirad must be about to defect to the US and become a Democrat candidate for NY State Senate.

He and Monster Rat can both investigate the cruelty of domestic violence by thuggish morons.

And in other exciting "religion of peace" news, see here for this story about another wonderful, pious devout man of faith in the Buffalo, NY area:

"Prominent Orchard Park man charged with beheading his wife"

Don't forget....."Diversity is our strength!"

No, it is the mentality of many -Islamic- nations.

I have a second residence in Bangkok Thailand, a third-world country with a veneer of modernity. The nation is for practical purposes two countries-in-one. The majority is Buddhist and tiny minority (around 4%) Muslim.

Guess where most wife beating takes place?

Four years ago I was having a discussion with some young waitresses in a restaurant location in Astoria. They were all typical American white girls. We discussed a recent news report of domestic violence, two of the girls finally mentioned that they had dated Arab males but the relationship had ended when they got slapped around and in another case -spanked-!

Islamic males often regard women as "unclean vessels" and chattel.

With that mindset no one should be surprised at what follows.

It's too bad we have to waste so many American lives in that area of the world.

While traditions and customs vary around the world, it is still disgusting that "diplomatic immunity" is basically a free pass to violate the values of a hosting country. When will the world community get together and establish some human rights norms that must be followed by all members of the diplomacy?

There was a piece on TV just last week that featured Pakistani men throwing acid in women's faces (wives or daughters?) that
didn't follow a proper code of behavior.

Apparently this has reached epidemic proportions over there.

Whether you're a diplomat or an average citizen, when a man raises his hand against a woman he proves that he's an under-civilized coward.

These 3rd worlders still treat their women as chattel.

Now if I were a lady, I'd slip a
blade between my husband's ribs while he slept, if he ever tried any violence on me!

He had better watch out treating his wife, "Like a dog." In America, you sometimes are treated worse for abusing animals then abusing women and children.

Although these Arabs are world-leaders in abuse, we are no great shakes either. I have a friend who has been crippled for life by her husband, another friend whose father tried to put him in a furnace and set fire to him because he was born handicapped. In both cases the man got away scot-free.

I hope that people who have great love for animals will have equal compassion for women and children.
