Big surprise: New WTC delayed

The World Trade Center's owner on Monday proposed scrapping the schedule and budget for the prolonged rebuilding of the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, saying nearly every project is delayed and over budget and that previous estimates "are not realistic."

Redevelopment of WTC facing problems

Christopher Ward, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, didn't set new deadlines and budgets for the multibillion-dollar redevelopment at the destroyed trade center complex. He proposed that a committee of developers and government agencies involved in the project meet to set new, "clear and achievable timelines" by the end of September.

The other day I walked along Fulton Street and saw all the work being done. The streets were torn open and pipes and curbs going back several centuries were exposed.

It was neat. I hope someone is docuementing this.
