MTA says they never promised to mitigate noise in Sunnyside

From PIX11:

They have heard enough.

Sunnyside residents are asking the MTA to add noise mitigation aspects to the East Side Access project bringing the LIRR into Grand Central.

“Yet again, the MTA has failed to keep its promises,” said NYC Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer who lives in the neighborhood and represents the district. “Given the engineering challenges the MTA has faced in the East Side Access project, it’s difficult to believe they can’t build a simple noise barrier.”

The big interlocking and connection point is in Sunnyside, Queens. The $10.8 billion project has faced cost overruns and delays. It's set to be done by the end of 2022.

The MTA says a sound wall was not promised.

Ah...that magic word..."mitigate".
You hear it at practically every public meeting when citizens bring up a noise, traffic congestion, etc. complaint.
"Do not worry , we are going to MITIGATE these problems." LIARS!
Notice...nobody says we are going to ELIMINATE THEM...only to MITIGATE THEM!
What does that really mean?
Little will be done and the rest is up to us ...our ears...our eyes...our tired feet to absorb the rest.

And WTF do our REBNY owned politicians care about? Little else but getting re-elected.

My personal Chitrool, Paul Vallone, only
cares about lobbying for developers and getting their $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to run his political campaigns.

I'd like to see him "mitigated" out of office. But my vote alone won't do it.
Wise up district voters. This man has done more to ruin your quality of life in the northeast than Atilla the Hun.
Vote the SOB out!

Like all public entities, they do not and will not follow the laws, rules and regulations of New York. Of course! Enforcement is rare, and when it happens (by mistake?) any penalties are written off.

Remember all the hubbub from politicians and the media when the LIRR was making sooooo much noise in LIC?
Jeez, where are all the media and politicians now?

Obviously Sunnyside is not as chic and politically powerful as LIC.

Hey, Jimmy Van Bramer wants the city to take over the MTA.

Give it to the mayor and city council.

Now THAT will solve a lot of problems.

Should read:

Obviously Sunnyside is not as chic and politically powerful as the LIC DEVELOPERS.

"Now THAT will solve a lot of problems."

And the neighborhoods that don't vote for him will get shit services. Hey, that's politics.

What neighborhoods did vote for him? I keep wondering how this guy even got elected.

As with the overhaul of the M by bushwick and ridgewood, this looks like another collaboration of the government and development industrial complex to drive less appealing, meaning middle class and working poor residents out of the neighborhood by driving them crazy and making lives as miserable as possible to bring up the AMI

That yard has been active over 100 years with older MUCH LOUDER steam and Diesel locomotives. Why is choosing to live next to a train-yard suddenly a big noise and MTA problem now.
These crybaby's should experience living 10 feet from the J or M train rails like all those people in Ridgewood & Bushwick.

Its not a problem for the residents, they are merely the front for the developers (and Jimmys donors) to rake in profits on their investments.
