"April 7th Update. ....... Here's the skinny on what's happening with the Judge's house. Looks like they're dismantling the whole thing as you can see by the latest pictures though we did meet Lisa, the daughter of the people who bought it. She's a real estate agent herself and seems very nice and though she said it was just a remodel she confirmed that it's going to be a brick building.

Let's recall that this was supposed to be an alteration, with only a small part of the building to be demolished, as per the ZD1 diagram.

If it has been completely demolished, call 3-1-1 and file a "work beyond scope of plans" complaint... "Not According to Plans" too.
The lot has been subdivided into two lots ... one 60 feet wide and one 40 feet wide ... with the house sitting on both of the lots ... so... how are they doing a renovation to the building now ??

What percentage of a structure needs to remain standing for it to be considered an alteration rather than a demolition? A small section of one wall?

How the hell can you file extensive 'plans' with the DOB - plans which are essentially a contract with the city that you promise to complete what is shown on paper - then with full intention utterly ignore those plans?
This is a criminal act, with responsibility extending to all parties involved:
the owner, the architect and the contractors doing both the demolition and the rebuild.
The licenses of all involved be pulled, and everyone - including the owner - heavily fined.
This has been going on for years in Queens, and it is just accelerating.
I have never heard of this happening in any other large city, except NY.

My North Flushing home has another colossal problem now.
The terrible Jet noise caused by NextGen flight patterns from Larguardia ! Most days it starts at 6:00AM and continues till midnight. The noise and pollution is making my home unlivable. The application filed was to demo the garage. The permit appears not to have been issued. There was no application to demo any part of the house as well.
A STOP WORK ORDER SHOULD BE ISSUED. Call 311 and tell them that there is no demo permit.
I would also question the 60 / 40 subdivision. I would be surprised if the minimum lot is 40 ft. in that zone.
