Curtis Sliwa to run against Katz for Queens BP

From the Queens Chronicle:

The decision has been made. Guardian Angels founder and popular radio show host Curtis Sliwa will run for Queens borough president in 2017.

"Absolutely," Sliwa exclusively told the Chronicle after speaking at the Juniper Park Civic Association's Thursday meeting. "No doubt about it."

After saying he was considering a possible BP bid in a speech to the Queens GOP last week, Sliwa authoritatively declared he will run as a Republican against incumbent Democrat Melinda Katz, his longtime ex-partner and the mother of his two youngest children.

He added that his wide-ranging, passionate speech to the crowd of over 100 incredibly enthusiastic supporters in Middle Village was his first "unofficial" campaign stop in his quest to knock the "corrupt" Queens Democratic Party down a peg.

"It's nothing against Melinda," Sliwa continued, "it's just all roads that give the Queens County Democratic machine a badly needed colonic lead through the borough presidency because that's where the patronage is."

In his speech, Sliwa hammered federal, state and city Democrats who represent Queens for being more corrupt than others, claiming the county is more crooked than any other in the nation.

Well, he'll get no argument here.

That does it, I'm running too!

There's no way a Republican can win county-wide in Queens.

"It's nothing against Melinda,"...

Oh no, nothing at all.

Anyone other republicans out there?

Good. Let him run for mayor in a few years, too.

He has name recognition...

On an unrelated note to the politics of it, isn't anyone bothered by Sliwa thinking it's worth the increased shame and embarrassment it's going to bring to the kids he shared with Melinda when they're old enough to understand all of this?

He's a jerk. And a lying one at that.

If Sliwa runs for Queens BP this should be very amusing. Divorce Court on steroids.

The way I look at it anything (well almost anything) is better than what we have now (Katz) and what we have had in the past (Marshall, Schulman, Manes) who have all fucked up Queens royally.

This guy is a clown.

How about he find a real job for once in his life.

A lot of patronage and stupid people probably makes this true, but this will open a can of worms that will gnaw at the system.

Once the light is turned on and fresh air comes into the clubhouse, the scum will wither.

Geez, doesn't he still have prostate cancer? -alfster

Love Curtis, his radio show is hilarious, he even makes the commercials entertaining. He's a great public speaker and he should run for office. I'd vote for him for mayor, councilman or borough president. We need to dump our corrupt do-nothing politicians.

Anonymous said...

Isn't he Melinda's Baby Daddy???????

They had a romantic/political relationship for a while.

Anonymous said...

Does this guy even have a real job?

Those two kids of theirs: new-fangled turkey-basted or or old time heeba-hobba'ed? What's the story? Are the f-ed up or what?

Can he continue to keep his ABC radio show as a candidate?

Curtis is and always has been a politician on the streets. It would be interesting to see how he would transfer that same work ethic if he were to win the election. Will he 'talk the talk' and 'walk the walk' or would he become complacent and ineffective like many of our city council leaders that represent Queens??

I'd pay to attend the debate.

I met Sliwa and Katz face-to-face inside of Melinda Katz's office, on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Sliwa, donned in red coat and beret, shook my hand (which must have felt like a small object, compared to his massive 'lobster claw!'), as Melinda Katz assured me that she would look into all of the matters that I presented to her in a hand delivered letter that she herself personally accepted.

It is now more than two years later, and no action was ever taken, as her baby daddy assured me that "Melinda takes care of her constituents."

Both of them devalue all honesty itself (to pathologically treasonous, traitorous and ruinous effect!), as the entire city government and City Hall are on the verge of societal collapse---and, rapidly crossing over into full blown anarchy (currently in mid-level progress)!

I wouldn't trust either one of these mangy sewer rats, even if their tongues were collectively notarized! And, the public be eternally duped, bilked, scammed and damned!

interesting...someone willing to take on the Queens Democratic Organization, which is corrupt to the core

A little creepy but I'd vote for him.

Alas, Anonymous, when you vote for "...a little creepy..." you get SO much more creepiness (and corruption, dishonesty, dishonor, disloyalty, dereliction of public duty and epic fail), than merely a little.

But, why anyone would invest their trust and vote in a candidate whom they knowingly perceive as "a little creepy" in the first place is what is truly disturbing (especially given that the little creep hasn't even officially announced his candidacy, much less his reductive platform).

Isn't Queens County already creepy and crooked enough---to utterly failed and ruinous effect?

Reading the comments, could Sliwa be the Donald Trump of Queens??? Just sayin'...

Couldn't he run for mayor instead? Someone's got to.

I consider myself very conservative and I know that NYC politics desperately needs some political opposition, but this guy is a mush mouth buffoon. His New Yawk white trash accent makes my skin crawl and his getto trash style of speaking makes me physically ill. Just listen to him speak on the radio. The worst job at ABC radio has to be the poor bastard that has to clean the drool off the microphone after old Curtis finishes one of his sloppy rants. God help us if this is all the loyal opposition can muster.

He's got my vote!!

Brown shirts....black shirts...red beret!
All mouth and no plans...but what a show!

will not most of the dems be in jail,by the next election ?

Richard Iritano said...

No matter which corrupt party continues to seize whatever remnants of power and control still exists away from our city residents, all of whom are already at the mercy of a corrupt and entrenched, establishment-rigged system that completely devalues all honesty itself, we all pay a price for a system that is forever broken to its rooted core, and below gutter level, as all city politicians (and globally!), now have more power and control than actual organized crime family rings worldwide---and, the entrenched power at the crushing weight of all top heavy leadership is destroying everything beneath it, until full blown anarchy finally prevails (currently in mid-level progress)!

The only difference is how the cabal of corruption continues to get paid (even after they are caught and jailed), as everyone else in our crumbling, shabby society of petrified paychecks just keeps on paying the price of their monstrous greed, graft and depraved sociopathy---in perpetuity!

And, if THAT isn't the definition of insanity---then, I don't know what is!

Anonymous said...

So Richard, does that mean you'd vote to reelect Katz? Evrn if it's a close call, would you throw your vote behind an obscure 3rd party candidate?

Anonymous said...

""New Yawk white trash accent makes my skin crawl""

Go back to Ohio and f_ck a cow ! I'm sick and tired of you dumb-ass hipshitz, trustfundfarians, Yahoos and all the political corruption making everybody miserable. It be nice to have a good few years in the city of my birth before becoming to old or sick to give a shit ! !!
SLIWA HAS MY VOTE !!!

"And, the public be eternally duped, bilked, scammed and damned!"

Same crap has been going on for years and I go back to Mario Cariello.
Getting elected to public office in Queens County grants one a license to lie and steal.

yes, it would be refreshing to have a Republican taking orders from the deregulated real estate cartel than to have another Democrat taking orders from the real estate cartel.

Hey Camel bladder Stick it !
Curtis is a real stand up New York guy.

Anonymous said...

If Trump is like Hitler then Sliwa could play the Mussolini role.

Anonymous said...

Will the naked cowboy be with him?

Anonymous said...

So, Melinda threw Curtis out and now he's bent on vendetta!
He thought that a test tube donation entitled him to a cozy relationship.
Uh...doesn't Katz swing both ways?
C'mon Curtis, grow up if that's possible.
Although I love the way he trashed corrupt Queens pol's!
Keep it up, fella.

It's fine to demean this guy, but in the late 1970's NYC was not a decent place. People lived in fear. The mayor at the time was Abe Beame and he was clueless.

Sliwa stepped up and help do what the city would not do. He made a change.

Give him his due.

Outstanding stupidity from your part to compare an american born businessman to mass murderer.
You are a failure as a human being.

Anonymous said...

He'll get this Democrat's vote.

Anonymous said...

Hmmm..Curtis thought that he f----d Melinda by providing her a test tube son. She wound up screwing him. Now Sliwa vows to get even by re-screwing her by running against her.
That's OK with me. Anyone who deposed alley Katz, the developers' slut is a stand up guy in my book.

Now all we need is to prop up Leonard's corpse to run again, this time against Toby.
