Abandoned corner house becomes a problem

Even the "nice" areas have problems with abandoned/vacant houses - this is on the corner of Union Turnpike and Commonwealth Blvd.

If you drive past it now, the front door is bent down and the front door is wide open. Since it's right next to both Creedmoor and the school complex on former Creedmoor land, I wonder if any kids hang out inside; or if squatters are living there. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

BTW, found a complaint made about it on 7/15/2015.

07/15/2015 - I AM CALLING BECAUSE THERE IS A VACANT BUILDING THAT HAS BROKEN WINDOWS AND IS NOT GUARDED.
07/16/2015 - I2 - NO VIOLATION WARRANTED FOR COMPLAINT AT TIME OF INSPECTION
Comments: 2- STORY FRAME BUILDING. SECURED. 5-0 CHAIN LINK FENCE INSTALLED.

Maybe the DOB will send someone out with a plank of wood for the front door. If you can't get the homeowner to board it up properly get the neighbors together and do it yourselves. No other agency will do anything about it.

For heaven's sake, call it in to 311 again!!

It is no easy task getting action taken on these matters. It takes persistence. Keep reporting it to DOB by calling it in to 311.

Complaint: Vacant and Unguarded Building It may have to be done repeatedly. If that is what it takes. Keep doing it. Eventually, they will get Housing and Preservation to send some one to issue an order to the appropriate party. If nothing is done in a certain amount of time, the building will be boarded (doors and windows) up and the owner will be sent of bill for the cost.

Rules: Vacant and Unguarded Buildings

These buildings often have utilities still active within the building It is even more difficult getting the utilities turned off.

It needs to be done for safety purposes.

Be persistent about the utilities. Report it also to Con Edison. Let them determine if utilities are still active.

Good Luck.

Here is another example of at least one, probably several more government employees that need to get fired and loose their benifits and pensions. Especially water ever shit head wrote up a report saying a 5 ft fence was installed to secure the property.
If we don't demand that people be fired for this shit then nothing will change. And by the way you know all those attorneys that work for the DOB and the Dept of Finance and have made a career of jerking off in a remote office on the tax payers time clock, why aren't they forced to take whatever legal action is necessary to seize the title to property like this so that city can sell it to the highest bidder. Don't tell me that is too difficult legally, these lawyer aren't doing shit and we're paying them so I don't care how long it takes.

HORSESHIT - MAY I SAY 'GOOD LUCK' TO THE CITY WHEN I GET MY TAX BILL? DEVELOPERS DON'T HAVE TO GO LOOPS, AND OF PURVEYORS OF WELFARE PROGRAMS THAT EMPLOY THE PARTY FAITHFUL DON'T JUMP TROUGH HOOPS WHY SHOULD WE?

WEAK COMMUNITIES ARE WHAT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY WANTS - IT BRINGS IN THE POOR AND THE DEVELOPER INTO A COMMUNITY LIKE FLIES TO ROTTEN MEAT.

HOLD YOUR LOCAL BASTARDS IN OFFICE ACCOUNTABLE OR FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL RUN AGAINST THEM BY MAKING THIS THEIR CAMPAIGN PLATFORM.

Very surprised that the contagion has spread to this area. Bellerose/Floral Park area is still well kept and strong, but not if more of these pop up. My guess is that an old lady lived there, has now moved on, with uncaring kids/family far far away.

If a trooper declares ECM as an ARO, he can't try to Dodge as well; the ARO against that Order is spent activating thhe ECM.
