This is not a new building: Flushing edition

"Here's what the house at 25-19 160 Street looked like at one time: small, with lots of yard space.

Today, the house looks like this:

Please notice the tacky external air conditioner and duct work on the front of the house. There are about 8 more A/C units on the other 2 sides – one for every room. The meter on the front of the house is also a nice touch. Nice and low-class!

The red (yucky!) pavers at the base of each entrance stop halfway to the sidewalk with the remaining portion of the walkway constructed of generic gray concrete. Why?

And why are there two main entrances? Why are there 3 rows of windows for a 2-story house?

This incredibly ugly house looks as though it was slapped together with whatever was on sale that day. There is no rhyme or reason to this hideous design. And it’s not alone – there are numerous houses like this popping up all over North Flooshing! Could there really have been an architect involved in this project? Can we track him down and sue him?" - Flooshing Rezident

Well I don't know about suing him, but how the hell is that an alteration and not a new building?

I could not see the "Crap" but now that the construction fence is down it really looks like all the Queens crap that has been going up south of Northern Blvd. If this (and it will) continues North Flushing and Whitestone are doomed to look like the rest of the Queens Crap. What a piece of Crap !

This is a project bought to you by our "vibrant and diverse " queens residents! Hold on for more ugly housing projects paid for the "vibrant and diverse"!

This is atrocious! I was stunned when the boards came down. How DARE they do this to our nab!

I really wanted to ask "Can we track him (the architect) down and kill him?" but the Flooshing Rezident is a lover, not a hater.

Well I try to be but it's not easy in this stinkin' neighborhood!

OBVIOUSLY A MULTIPLE DWELLING. WHERE IS THE COMMUNITY BOARD AND DOB???

I bet this one will be used for cultural and religious gatherings. Just wait and see.

The air conditioner and electric meter are ugly (here comes the "but") but I'm sure that landscaping will eventually camouflage both.

However, that doesn't change the fact that this edifice is freakin' hideous.

These Monster McMansions are one of the 15+ reasons NOT to vote for John Liu in the upcoming September Primary (NY Senate District 11 election).

Feel free to the 15+ reasons NOT to vote for John Liu in this blog link
http://ny121asil.wordpress.com/2014/06/15/why-john-liu-doesnt-deserve-your-vote-communist-infiltrate-ny-senate/

Don't let Whitestone, Bayside, Glen Oaks to look like Flushing, Queensboro Hill.

get in touch with Avella

Why is not a single politician posting here upset with this?

Why is the fate of tansgendered Pacific Island youth more important to them?

Do they have the same value system as the community they were elected to represent?

So what are you going to do about it? Take some ice cream money to shut you up and go home?

Was there a variance request needed, and if so, did it go to CB7 for recommendation?

Money can't buy taste.

Drove past Vallone's house this AM. He's got a couple of Liu signs on his lawn.
No surprise.
Birds of a feather...

Will truly look lovely when the remaining open space is concreted-over for parking for 5 or 6 junk vehicles.

This is so wrong!!! Where is the DOB, when you file a complaint they check it out when the construction is almost done. This is happening in Whitestone, anything labeled R3-R3A the chinese are all over it ready with the wrecking ball. Lots of them are getting away with this extension/alteration crap. The Chinese destroyed lots of beautiful homes in Woodside and Elmhurst now they are coming full force to Northeast Queens! Something needs to be done both legally and community wise. I don't care who comes in but when your getting away with violations and building over the means it is just wrong and should be punishable. These areas are zoned for less density but some how it is getting out of control. Any one with good suggestions?! I'm not taking moving as a suggestion. BTW I have done some research and the Chinese are doing the same thing to other states here in the US and also in Australia. Get this they even described the same style houses they build here in Queens to be brick box shape homes "In Sydney's leafy mid-north shore suburbs, it is not uncommon to see old houses knocked down and brand new double brick two-storey mansions in theirplace,

This article from Palo Alto, CA states they lack skills to repair older homes, the newer the construction the better.

If you drive through Oakland Gardens there is a monstrosity just like this on many corners. Three families are visibly living in the two family McMansions. Laudry is hanging from the terraces and stair railings throughout various times of the day. They opt for no garages and as a result street parking is difficult.

The structures are obviously too huge for the lots that they are built on. The Asians clearly do not think the DOB Building Code and Zoning Regulations do not apply to them.

And, there are not consequences for the offenders.

It's too late. Bayside is another Flooshing.

it is r2a zoning for this house, therefore, you can only build a one-fam house.

Move and they will be right behind you sooner than later !

Me Chinese, me play joke. Me make a mockery of your laws and ignore any semblance of context.

Call your councilman and ask him to investigate this obviously NOT a one family home. If you vote for Liu this type of construction will be rampant. Tony Avella is the ONLY elected official who has passed laws against this kind of construction.

Easy way to stop this crap is not giving the building a Certificate of Occupancy if it's not up to code.

Then the builder has to eat the money he invested.

Atrocious is the word. See 32nd Avenue btw Clearview and 202 street or block on 33rd Avenue between 205 and 204 Streets. Sewer will just explode raw how many families live in these multiple dwellings, in place of small one-family houses that were once there. The only thing colorful are numerous nightly shadows now collecting bottles throughout the week, all while living in these "mansions".

Here is an update on this "lovely alteration job" house:

They have at least 6 CCTV cameras installed, brick fence, iron gates, etc etc.
Business is good and the neighbors are fed up with the 20-30 cars being parked around and in front of their houses all hours of the day. Mostly Toyota minivans.

25 complaints to 311 latest one is about "Adult business" being run out of this house.
With some gambling and who knows what else.
The owner is a Chi-com looking older guy and the wife is running a shuttle service for the clients and she is better than Q28 bus service that's for sure.
DOB fined them already $5600 for 3 violations.
Owner admitted to running a sports bar to a DOB inspector! Yeah right! Sports bar.
CB7 is aware of the situation and is not interested in solving the problem saying there is no proof to anything. Really?

Hate to say this, but looks like organized crime has arrived to this otherwise nice and sleepy area of North Flushing right in Tony Avella's backyard!
To be fair not sure if he knows about it yet.
