Police academy opening delayed until 2015

From the Times Ledger:

The grand opening of the new police academy in College Point has been moved back to 2015 following more delays, a police source familiar with the project said.

The academy was originally set to open in the spring, but there were delays because of damage caused by Superstorm Sandy and a fire which ripped through the new facility in 2013. It was then scheduled to open its doors in July, but suffered further delays from vestiges of the fire and flood, the source said.

The NYPD is currently working with the city Buildings and Fire departments to get all of the building’s mechanical systems approved and a temporary certificate of occupancy.

The city will be blaming delays in any project on "Superstorm Sandy" until 2100.

Who needs this monstrosity in College Point in the first place? Think the traffic in that part of Queens is bad now? Wait til the police academy opens! Another disaster started by the Bloomturd administration.

How about constructing homeless shelter barracks and communal dining at or across the street from the academy? Residents guaranteed to keep their noses clean.

Too tall of a building and lots of nature destroyed. Could of been done and thought out better a little more lowrise and attention to nature. But its NYshitty we're talking about. Other cities seem to have things better planned.
