Deadline for snow removal has passed!

From WPIX:

The mayor says he expects all the streets will be plowed by 7 am on Thursday, but residents are doubtful. While the main streets have been cleaned, many residential areas have been ignored, especially in the Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island.

The sanitation department has caught the bulk of the blame for the slow response to clear the streets. Bloomberg said part of the problem was that several cars and buses were abandoned in the middle of streets. While Mayor Bloomberg says he is dissatisfied with the city's performance, he also defended city officials.

"Everybody has worked hard," Mayor Bloomberg said. "The results were not what we'd like them to be, but it has not been for lack of effort." Bloomberg says he will find out what went wrong so that the city can do better the next time.

Well, it's after 7am. Is your street plowed?

My street was plowed Tuesday overnight. 74th St in Elmhurst. It is passable but needs to be widened in some parts. Basically a one way street for now.

Glen Oaks here - they finally plowed 260th street (featured on the blog in Bob Friedrich's comment yesterday) by the time I got home last night, but of course skipped sections of it (this is the street ambulances and buses use regularly).

Now that they made it all the way out here, couldnt they get BOTH sides of the street (its separated by a median)

The mayor just said every street was touched by a snow plow. He didn't say both sides! You folks are so nitpicky... :)

In case you need to know where all the front loaders are, they can be found in times sq making sure every ounce of snow is picked up and removed so the tourists, the only important people in this town, can have a good time new years eve. To all you outer borough peons, go stuff it - mayor michael arrogance bloomberg.

RECALL THE MAYOR. LET'S VOTE ON THIS CREEP AGAIN.

I fully agree!

Recall the mayor before us taxpayers have to pay the bill for his continuing mismanagement of NYC.
