Watch where you park in Bayside

From the Times Ledger:

Bayside residents said they were fed up with costly parking tickets after continuously getting slips for leaving their cars in unmarked spaces, which they contend are not illegal.

Residents said traffic agents have repeatedly placed $165 tickets on vehicles parked on 212th Street between 42nd and 43rd avenues in Bayside.

Bayside’s Jack Oshier, who has not received any tickets but knows several people who have, said most of the tickets were issued at sites where there were no signs indicating that drivers should not park on the street. He said several other tickets have been given to drivers on the grounds they were blocking pedestrian ramps.

But Susan Seinfeld, district manager of Community Board 11, said the spaces were areas where apartment buildings had cemented over a curb, not ramps.

I got exactly those 2 tickets about 3-4 years ago in that EXACT spot. I took a pictue of the "ramp" complete with the fact there was no curb cut, but a 3" or so curb, and went to traffic court. Both tickets were dismissed by the judge

I used to live between 210 - 211th on 41 Avenue and remember that horror. It got prgoressively worse when single family homes were turned into multifamily -- the landlords needed parkeing so they made their own driveways and curb cuts.
