Queens is also hemorrhaging jobs.

Back in April 2008, the press was telling us that Queens was the bright spot in the city for employment figures. The Bangladeshis and Koreans were creating jobs in the import-export sector, and JFK and LaGuardia were hiring people to work at the airports.

Also, what about this gem quote from an April 2008 NY Times article:

“The Queens economy is materially different from Manhattan’s,” said Terrence F. Martell, director of the Weissman Center for International Business at Baruch College. “To the extent it’s growing, that gives us a diversification that we don’t typically talk about.”

Indeed. Haven't heard many people talking about that lately.

But that was only 10 months ago....now we have hedge fund "masters of the universe" and real estate brokers applying for barrister jobs at Starbuck's. Problem is the customers are not there either, nor are the jobs.

Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again......

Thank you everyone who sold $400K shacks to people from the minorities! Queens loves its politicians and friendly neighborhood realtors and loan sharks!

Down, down, down into the abyss!

What will all those latte-lapping real estate brokers do now?

I guess if you're stuck

you could make some lemonade!
