On Sunday afternoon at 3pm on February 15th 2009, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) will take the oath of office at a swearing-in ceremony at Holy Cross High School in Bayside. The event is open to the public and numerous civic and community leaders will be joining Padavan at the ceremony.
New York State Supreme Court Justice Robert Hanopy will perform the oath of office and local community activist and Jamaica Estates resident Maria Collier will serve as mistress of ceremonies for the event. Reverend Monsignor Raymond F. Chappetto from Our Lady of Snows in Floral Park will perform the invocation and fourth-grader Brittany Chang will lead the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.
“We’re gratified by the support of tens of thousands of Northeast Queens residents who supported my re-election every step of the way,” Padavan said. “I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to continue to serve the residents of the 11th Senate District in the Senate and look forward to joining with the community on February 15th.”
A reception of light refreshments will follow after the ceremony.
