As mentioned previously, the plans for Broadway and Queens Blvd were scaled back, partly because of the economy and partly because of geology. This week, a tipster informed QC that construction has begun on the eastern phase of the project which will contain an interesting assortment of uses.

I can't wait to see the babble of Eastern bazzar stores with red signs, drying fish fermenting and orange chickens hanging upside down in the windows a the base luring shoppers from nearby bus stops. Luxury 150sqf apartments with oversized balconys teeming with laundry and bycles. The building will gleam with sand colored brick splashed with fresh graffitti to remind everyone of their modest origins of lower Manhattan. The buildings will house medical offices of every stripe with Red native banners proclaiming their flavor of miracles.
Wow, your review prev poster puts to shame the boiler plate diverse vibrant colorful pablum we read about when the visual nighrmare, chaotic clutter of these communities assaults the observer.
One of the best paragraphs I read describing the new Queens.
A chilling glimpse of America tomorrow.
Excellent work!
High water table. The garage will be unusable (not that anyone can park there now) and if they are not careful, the former swamp its built upon will need some deep pilings or the building will start to settle (just like they are on 21st Street in Astoria)
i wonder if the same problems will occur here that are happening at the rego park mall construction, which is causing nearby buildings to crack and sink.
at least it's scaled back from two 17 story towers. that would have been a nightmare. i guess its one bright spot these days.

not much difference in a fever that is 101 vs 103, or leaning 17 story building and a leaning 8 story building: both are disasters.
Horse Brook strikes again- the buried stream comes ot life, haunting developers!
I think the building is better-looking than what I expected....
