NEWS ALERT:
What a damn pity! Melinda Katz & Barbara Stuchinski are indeed too busy rezoning the A-frames in southern Forest Hills, and have omitted these charming Cord Meyer homes with history, giving the right of way for hideous, anti-green, law-breaking McMansions. Try building a Tudor home today with leaded glass and fine craftsmanship, and see how much they would cost you. There is also no replacement for the mature trees on the property. The culprits are killing the soul & well-being of Forest Hills for their selfish reasons. That is against their Torah & Ten Commandments.
If the new owners put in concrete, there is new legislation barring that. If you see something, call 311 and report them immediately! Many of those McMansions do defy zoning laws, and for those who have doubts, file a complaint with 311 anyhow.
Four years ago a newspaper editor and myself tried to discuss what was happening st Cord Myer with MK - she didn't even know what or where we were talking about.
Again, a lack of public education from the preservation community.
They are so self-absorbed within their own little enclaves they simply could not care less about spreading information, or working with the broader city.
We need to get their attention.
We need to overturn the landmarks law. Then they could get a taste of our medicine.
We mourn the destruction of a Cord Meyer Tudor-bethan, but we take comfort that it is not the only one in the world. With the Tudor-bethans of Arbor Close and Forest Hills Gardens preserved by strict coveants, wecan rest assured that the style will be around for future generations.
If you want a perfectly preserved Tudor-style community, simply cross the tracks into Forest Hills Gardens. Here on the north side of the boulevard, we have the right to build as we see fit.
Unless QueensCrap proposes making the entire borough into a landmarked Historic District, please allow for some natural growth on the North Side of the boulevard.
That being said, I also oppose concrete lawns, but support taller structures.

Exhibit A of what is wrong with presevation: we got ours, now you can go f*k yourself.
Nice. Lets see if we can overturn some of these convanents, or better yet, in this developer feeding frenzy, just have a developer go it hammer and tongs.
Italicized passages and many of the photos come from other websites. The links to these websites are provided within the posts.
Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods. They are not connected to this website and the opinions presented here do not necessarily represent the positions of these organizations.

I should have said we tried to protest not discuss what was happening in Cord Meyer, i.e. McMansions.
Another
Bukharian/barbarian tear down,
no doubt!
Better that they were kept under Soviet domination than released into civilized society!
Coming soon to your local theaters:
"The Late Great Forest Hills"!
Only drove by that house about 2 weeks ago and thought "Thank God that beautiful house is still there". When beauty is taken away you feel raped.
WHO ARE THE REAL RAPISTS? THE PEOPLE WE IGNORANTLY ELECTED AND ARE ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPEN.

FLASH:
THERE IS NO PRESERVATION COMMUNITY (either alive or awake)IN QUEENS...
ONLY MINOR EGOTISTS WITH SPOTTY TRACK RECORDS AT SELF PROMOTION!

Pray tell, what do you consider natural growth?
Are we now having a civil war, north vs south? Or is this a new form of prejudice?
How did you decide what side of Queens Blvd anyone lived?
Maybe if there were a bunch of auto body shops like in Willets Point the City Council would step in and try to preserve it.
JKB - YOU DON'T GET IT AND YOU PROBABLY NEVER WILL.
The Bukabarbarians kill chickens out in the street, so money doesn't necessarily buy class.
