Telling Claire off

From this week's Times Ledger:

Willets Point plans won't help biz owners

With all due respect, former Queens Borough President Claire Shulman's claim in an April 12 TimesLedger story that a proposal concerning Willets Point holds the potential for Queens's future, this is political nonsense.

If Willets Point passes a legal challenge, it will almost certainly include an unnecessary hotel, a useless convention center, high-rise luxury housing and a paltry amount of so-called moderate housing.

What makes all this absurd is that the price for all this is that it will destroy an existing viable economic area that contains about 225 businesses, employing more than 1,400 people who serve a public need, support many families and pay taxes. That the area may need some cosmetic face-lifting is no excuse to destroy viable economic businesses. The Willets Point proposal will benefit special interests and not the little people of Queens.

So, the anointed elite don't like to look at auto repair shops, junk yards (which supply perfectly good, used auto parts) and construction companies. All these legitimate businesses are noisy, look messy and disorderly.

Well, who forced the anointed elites to look?

Many fine people, including the poor, find the services to be priced just right, with parts usually available. Car tinkerers love to visit the junk yards to find the exact part needed for the car they're fixing up.

Who the hell cares if "Auntie Claire's" delicate sensitivities are offended? She's not going to fix your car for you, or find the best part you've been looking for.

This is one taxpayer who cares not one whit for her or her sensitivities. And, I certainly don't want my money spent destroying needed businesses and the families destroyed by the corrupt plans to take their property.

Where will guys get car parts? Where will cars be repaired? Where will construction equipment be stored?

Say NO! No corrupt use of tax money. No destruction of legitimate business and New York families.

Tell the mayor. Tell Claire. Tell them: We find them to be the eyesores; We Make the Rules!

Ben Haber, being the kind and civilized soul that he is, begins his "letter to the editor" by paying "due respect" to Shulman!

I don't offer the same respect.....Shulman was definitely a party hack and a dullard during her tenure as Beep!

Worse yet....she was , in my opinion, probably a CROOK herself along with her former ARCH-CROOK boss Donald Manes!

So now she gets a "golden parachute" in the way of a fat paying patronage job as director of the Willets Point development as a reward for her years of being a Dem Machine hack!

She don't know shit from Shinola when it comes to being qualified for this position except for being a "yes woman" to the developers!

The original slut for the builders' interests.....not her constituents interests!

Any of you out there who think that she did a good job were taken for a ride!

So, Anonymous says Shulman got the slut slot as a payoff.

Who gave the slut the slot?

"The Willets Point proposal will benefit special interests and not the little people of Queens."

Hey Benny, where have you been? This is the way Queens has been run for generations.

Only thing new is that Crap tells the world like it is.

Shulman could have and should have done more for the businesses in the "iron triangle" when she was in office. Those business people begged her for sewers, water mains, sidewalks and streets. She denied the funds for infrastructure improvements which created the eyesore that the area is today. Now she wants to improve the area for Wellington Chen's group at the behest of Parkside. She's done enough. Shulman is 80+ years old, she ought to be checking into a retirement community. Somewhere far away from us!

Shulman was and still is a corrupt Bovine who should be turned out to pasture where she can quietly chew her cud!

And.....oh yes....far, far away from politics and us!

How 'bout she retire in one of the junk yards? Suitable enough?

Build her a Cow- patty retirement shanty and the junk yards will do fine!
