Con Ed scam calls proliferating

From CBS 2:

Con Edison issued a warning Wednesday about con artists who claim to represent the public utility, and CBS2 has discovered several small business owners that have already become victims.

As CBS2’s Magdalena Doris reported, Con Ed said it gets 15 to 20 calls about such scams every day. In one recent occasion, the crooks snagged $1,000, and when CBS2’s Doris called to confront the scammers, they weren’t too happy.

My 90yr old Aunt and Uncle almost got duped by the same scam. Luckily we happened to be visiting them right after it happened. We saw she was in a tizzy and had all her con-ed bills on the kitchen table. When we asked what is wrong and she told us..I told her it was a scam but she didn't believe me cause they had all the information. I called con-ed for her and they confirmed the scam.

Yup! About a year or 2 ago, they repeatedly called, rang my door bell in N. Flushing asking my elderly mother, who has Alzheimers, to sign a contract imediately. Thank goodness I was home to stop it!

When they used to call, I'd use every profanity in the book and get extremely suggestive sexually. Haven't heard from them in months!!!

I haven't gotten any of these calls, but got two from the IRS
I'm waiting for a police benevolent call. LOL! Got one of those years ago.

I got that scam IRS cal also few months ago; stating if I don't send $70,000 within 45 minutes the Police will arrest and hand-cuff me.

Speaking of north Flushing...I got a flyer from Victor Quo asking me if my house was for sale.
I'm going to have a neat small sign made...in Chinese, Korean and English, saying " not for sale"!
