Developer decides against Ridgewood beer beach
From the Queens Chronicle:
La Playa NYC has been shut down before it could even open.
According to the developer of 176 Woodward Ave. in Ridgewood, there will be no popup beach and beer garden operated by the Rockaway Brewing Co. at the site as planned.
"We pulled the plug on the plan," said David Schwartz, a principal at Slate Property Group, in a Tuesday phone interview. "It just became too much."
Schwartz said the hope was to have the venue open by early June, but securing a certificate of occupancy and a liquor license — all while a number of area residents voiced their opposition to the plan — meant La Playa NYC could not open until August at the latest.
"I don't think we had the time to address the people's concerns, there wasn't enough time to handle anything," he said. "It wasn't enough time to make it worthwhile. You can't just be open for August."
Have you all heard of Slate Property Group before? Let's just say that right now they have bigger things to worry about than running a hipster beach.

These fucking fucks never even considered to address the area's residents yet find the time too.
And not to brag, when I said this is just like the rivington house plunder I did not think it was thisclose. And if there is any more doubt about how the gentrification industrial complex of government, development, and equity and venture investors are dismantling towns by catering and designing them to the hipshit lifestyle, well doubt no more. Slate and all these other predators are practically criminal enterprises trying hard to make huge profits off the housing crisis anyway and anyhow. They are sick in their minds and in their souls if they even have them.
Let them continue to fail in their federally and city funded endeavors.
I can't believe they were going to turn that into a resort area. They must have got the idea from that combo bar and rec room east of Ridgewood by Glendale (also near a toxic site)

You must remember that diversity is our strength...
Your comments are poetically sublime (sarc).
Congrats, I guess, but what's likely to be built on this lot now? 28 four story Fedders crap boxes with concrete parking pads for yards?
"They must have got the idea from that combo bar and rec room east of Ridgewood by Glendale (also near a toxic site)"...I don't like correcting people but the Finback Brewery is housed IN the Superfund site. The DEC granted an easement to the property owners after they drilled a few wells to air out the PCE that filled the ground underneath the building. The property can not be used as a residence but commercial use seems to be OK with the DEC. As much as I enjoy a cold beer there is no way in hell I would spend leisure hours in this building. God help the poor bastards that work in that building. PS. Strange how the property adjacent to this toxic site was found to be good enough for the City to put in a homeless shelter even though the DEC never tested it.
No, this.
Queens Crapper:
I'd have thought that you'd like the Beach Bar. After all, you could patronize the place and watch the hipsters wallow in their disgusting crapulence.
Glad they are not going to put that noisy crap there!!! Here's an idea how about they build a parking lot! Or a medical building with physical therapy and a lab!

I think he was talking about Nowadays, not Finback. Finback was actually cleaned up.
