City planning to knock down school it landmarked

From Brooklyn Daily:

The city will knock over Sunset Park’s castle-like former police precinct to make way for 300 classroom seats, officials announced on June 13. School Construction Authority reps made the pitch to Community Board Seven, claiming the crumbling landmark at Fourth Avenue and 43rd Street would “probably have to come down” while also showing photos of schools the agency previously built atop demolished historic structures.

School Construction Authority reps refused to say the agency would definitely demolish the building, which would require a virtually unheard-of un-landmarking or for the city to condemn the derelict structure as a hazard. However, they did show locals photos of schools the agency build with an aesthetic nod to the historic buildings that they replaced, such as PS 133 in Park Slope, which rose from an older schoolhouse, and PS 30 in Bay Ridge, which succeeded the Green Church.

Score another sellout by dipshit De Blasio!

Here is the kicker - it's going to cost more to demolish the building than it would to renovate it.

A few more thoughts on this disgusting matter...

Fuck developers, and fuck the SCA. School construction authority was actually showing off photos of how they demolished the Green Church to make away for an ugly school. That building should have been landmarked. They are literally proud of destroying historic buildings.

>Don't maintain building
>use the excuse that it's falling apart to demolish it

They tried the same excuse with Willets Point.

Adding to previous anonymous (great minds think alike)......
This is a standard NYC government process-
1)Decide late in the game to save something
2)Ignore all maintenance and upkeep, or do it poorly
3)Decide that it can no longer be fixed
4)Knock it down
5)Bemoan its loss

We are from the government and we are here to help...

I said it before and I will say it with my dying breath, these people, including these SCA appointees who are clearly influenced by the REBNY cabal of predator developers, the soulless ghouls in city council and the confederacy of corrupt fucktards in city hall are sociopaths or mentally ill, they don't give a fuck and will smile and laugh at your face as you yell, complain, and even grumble (But more likely to hide behind their entourage or police detail as they do that).

This is what anarchy really is. When the people elected betray all those who they preyed on for votes and support.

Damn them all to hell.

Off topic , but need some advice.

The house at 35-62 167th street Flushing is nearly finished a renovation. New owners are putting up a wall in violation of Rickert-Finlay

Is this a Job for the homeowners association or the DOB.

The problem is that people in Queens are passive and easily discouraged to say nothing about being lazy and not taking responsibility.

We see the same story over again and here the same whining over again.
