From the Daily News:
Convicted felon Mayer Goldberger, 50, took a timeout from his work release program to fight the foreclosure of a half-built mansion owned by his mother.
The building, a hulking monstrosity at 1670 42nd St. in Borough Park, has been plaguing neighbors since construction began 10 years ago, but now it will be auctioned on Thursday.
Neighbors have filed nearly 50 complaints with the city since 2004, and the Department of Buildings halted the construction in 2008. Among the problems with the 10,000-square-foot structure was a fourth floor that wasn’t part of the permits.
The quadruple-decker is technically owned by Goldberger’s feeble mother, but the son filed a shoddy bankruptcy case in November, trying to hold off the lenders who are looking to collect $2.8 million in loans and fees. The case was tossed on March 7.
An appraiser estimated the building’s value to be about $1.8 million.

$1.8million? The houses on either side look like they could be valued at $300k. DOB sucks!
Knock that piece of shit down!
It loks like a Chinese Pagoda, so yea, they will be lining up to buy it. $2.5 million, do I hear 2.5?
Jesus, knock that pile of crap down already!
Hmm.. don't show this to the restaurateur that wants to buy the Steinway mansion.
A smart developer would knock down all three houses and get about 21 units from the combined lots.
Actually I think that building is pretty nice, but not there. It belongs in an area with space, which means not in NYC.
The top half looks like the house behind the Bates Motel.
Looks like the place needs a dose of Jewish lightning.
The houses on either side won't be worth much next to that thing.
Why haven't the permit be revoked? What an eyesore!
these McPalaces are great targets for eggs and tp on halloween
but why should it be limited to one day of mischief?
Bates Motel..lol. Is that mother I see there in the window??
Anon no. 9:
Maybe some drunken Irishmen or some Italians from an organized crime family can do it as well.
Grow up with the stupid ethnic cliches already.
LOL!
Put a neon dragon on the roof and it would make a great looking chop suey restaurant.
