"Take a look at the flag in front of Gleason's Funeral Home on 150th St. in Whitestone, NY…
I personally called them yesterday and asked them to replace it. It would be disrespectful if a veteran was being waked with this tattered symbol of our nation flying outside. They assured me that it would be changed immediately…Well, that was yesterday. If they aren't going to replace it, they could at least have the decency to take this monstrosity down!" - Bob

wow - I was just there recently too and did not notice this! Good for you for calling attention to it!
I am sure that they will replace it immediately.
This is Queens. There arent any Americans left jere who would have noticed anyway. Queens: Vibrant. Diverse.
The funny thing is that if they had decided to fly the flag of one of the many other vibrant countries in that condition whose people are living here, there would be outrage. It would be on the front page of the paper and on the news how this funeral home is being disrespectful to that country and culture. There would be protests and calls for a boycott of the funeral home.
If it is the good old flag of the USA no one cares. It is really unbelievable, but I can not expect anything different. This is our vibrant and diverse Queens.
This does look bad for their business as well as the community it serves. Show pride and honor in the raised flag and all it represents. They were better off having no flag to begin with if they chose to let it look so bad. Hope it gets fixed immediately as promised. Keep us posted.
A raggedy US flag is never a monstruosity but a sign of desidious behaviour on behalf of the bearer.
Long live the republic!!
Sad part is he will likely just throw the flag in the garbage. No idea what proper protocol is.
Just another small example of how our country is going in the tank. If he did this in the post WWII era, he would have gotten a visit from some vets.
Sadly, most of our "citizens", never heard of Iwo Jima.
Yeah, most don't know the Confederate President. Do you? Then request this be taught in school.
these dopes never heard of moth balls?
It probably gets shredded on the tree branches.
Proper protocol for the destruction of a U.S. Flag is separating the field with the stars from the stripes and burning it in a ceremony. It's called a "Retirement" Most Veterans Service organizations (VFW,DAV,American Legion etc.) are glad to perform this service once or twice a year.
Anon 4: There is one weekly that seems to care about American flags, and shaming people into fixing or flying them. Someone cares.

Many of my late relatives laid in state here. In general I consider this one of the best buildings in the entire neighborhood.
I just spoke to someone there and this flag issue has been rectified a while ago. They noticed it and got someone to handle it rapidly.
Because of high winds the flag was ripped by a city tree.
I seen a so many flags looking like this I hope it's related to the recent Arctic snaps. Perhaps when they get wet then flash freeze ?
Sad and true not many Americans left and to add all the grandchildren of these WWII veterans & baby boomers are dumb stupid as rocks. This curtsey of the shitty liberal run NYC school system and ALL the colleges.
English & History = OUT
Sex & Liberal arts = in
The flag has been replaced.
So give them one-- or do you expect the government to do that for you? Bill Sandinista Duh-blazio? Don't hold your breath.
