The front of this house at 57-03 84th Street in Elmhurst looks pretty normal. But it's what's in the yards around it that is kind of a shocker.
The driveway.
The side yard.

Fire Hazard. blocking Egress. DOB & HPD violations. is this a Chinese person doing this?
Let's just face it many people, regardless of race, are slobs, and most of them live here in Queens, where it is so much easier to get away with shit like this, since there is pretty much no enforcement of quality of life laws.
None of the above city agencies will give much of a shit - what you need to do is get the fire department involved. Maybe you can do that via calling 311 but 311 seems like a total waste of time - probably better off stopping at the nearest firehouse and asking what can be done - because ultimately any fire at this location would be a really big problem for them, putting firemen at risk trying to rescue people while trying to get through all of this crap around the building.
They handed a company I worked at many years ago a few very expensive tickets for merely having a few boxes in a hallway near an exit. This is much worse.
Leave it the way it is. Everyone living there should be ashamed of themselves for letting this happen. They are all pigs by association. I'd call every news channel in NY. Watch how fast this problem gos away.
The county council should legally impose an involuntary commitment to a mental institution for such an individual who is a threat to their self and fellow neighbors. This is hazardous, unsanitary, and disruptive.
Neighbors have tried to get this cleaned up to no avail. Now, on Tuesday, November 24, there was a fire at this address which caused damage to the house next door! I really feel sorry for those who keep their place in tip top shape but have to deal with neighbors who are slovenly and hoard,
The lady living there is Greek. Hoarding has nothing to do with race or culture, and everything to do with mental illness. There have been multiple reports to city agencies, none of which have made any attempts to get this cleaned up.

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods. I don't think so.
society dictates that this person yearns to be on a reality show.

if I am not mistaken this is upper Ditmars -- the garden apartments -- these people should call the city and where is the super on this matter
I have seen councilman and assemblymen show up when a developer needs a stop sign.
Where are they here?
You are mistaken. This is in Elmhurst.
Terrifying....that the neighbors see this and do nothing. it's a mental illness. how do they get the garbage out to the curt?
If the Sanitation and HPD inspectors can see the garbage from the street that's a violation. in this case, multiple violations. and you are right.
I shudder to think what the inside looks like. Must have a mouse/rat infestation too.
Queens: Vibrant. Diverse.

There is a reality show about hoarders. Scary people.

"legally impose an involuntary commitment to a mental institution for such an individual" ?
they would have to open fifty such facilities as NY'ers are pack rats by nature.
You do not see something like this in Manhattan.
Why is Queens different?
There are tons of hoarders in Manhattan, but they live in apartment buildings so it's not so obvious.
Helen Marshall legacy.
Hoarding is OCD, a diseease. Can't Creedmore keep thes enuts in?
