Unemployment is up in NYC

From Crains:

The city's unemployment rate ticked up slightly in August to 8.6% from 8.4% in July as more New Yorkers entered the labor market looking for work, according to data released Thursday from the state Labor Department.

The unemployment rate is down from 9.3% a year ago thanks to steady private sector job growth—84,700 positions or 2.5% growth.

New York state's unemployment rate also rose slightly in August, to 7.6% from 7.5%. Both city and state trailed the national unemployment rate, which dropped slightly to 7.3% from 7.4%.

While the city's economy is creating jobs, the positions are not improving household income. Median household income in the New York Metropolitan area stayed flat between 2011 and 2012, Census figures released Wednesday showed. Meanwhile, median household income statewide declined slightly from 2000.

Creating McJobs!

Well I'm sure Duh Balsio will change all this and use his years of job creating experience to make NYC a paradise. All we have to do is wait a few more weeks, right? How lucky we are!

Remember: those newly-created jobs are mostly crap pay.

stop giving jobs and government benefits to illegal aliens, stop rewarding Mexican, Chinese, Africans for having babies on US soil. stop letting illegal immigrants bring their elderly here to get Social Security with out working in the USA. DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS. Hire American citizens first. No more Pakastanis or Indians hired first.

Yes...stop giving illegals preference over jobs and housing. Nyc needs to stop taking in foreigners period.....we already have way too many!! The least they can do is give the native new yorkers preference on housing and stop catering to outsiders.... 8.3 million in this city is way too much!! We don't need 9 million!

Being a financial "expert, wasn't Mayor Bum-berg supposed to improve the overall financial health of our city? I don't see it.

I guess he meant only to improve his rich pals lives!

I'm counting the days until this scourge will be gone and we can all breathe a breath of fresh air.

Oops, unless this tyrant tries to impose a fourth term on us.

Heaven forbid!
