It earned its stripes

Miss Heather found a doozy of a house on Judge Street in Elmhurst recently. I wonder if the guy who painted Doughboy Park lives here...

I especially like the parking on the front lawn (illegal) where there is no curb cut (illegal). Take a look at Google Maps and see that the whole block is apparently doing it. Enforcement? Pshhhaw!

Crapper, or anyone else... can you link me to the code that states that parking on the front is illegal? I have some neighbors that do this, and before i call it in, i want my report to sound like i did my homework. Thanks.

Parking on the front lawn is illegal if:

There is no curb cut
The curb cut was not approved by DOT
The parking pad was not approved by DOB.
In 2009, the zoning code was amended to disallow most new front lawn parking as well as paving over of front lawns.

I'm surprised no one has made note of this house until now> It's been like that for several years, at the least.

Crapper, time to change your stripes and hop on board with the New Style.

No, but your windows are a pane!

Actually it is an attempt at replicating Florentine architecture.

If true, George, then they failed at their attempt! It also doesn't explain the illegal front yard parking.

Looks like Peppermint Patty lives there.

I know Florence. I've been to Florence. Florence is a friend of mine. And that piece of crap house looks nothing like Florence.

You must admit that the zebra stripes on that church building* in Florence is a little t-o-o over-the-top bedazzling?

*The Baptistry of St. John

Looks like a Gothic barbershop.

Check out the neighboring campanile here. Red, green, and white stripes.

GTA - I think you are attributing talent and art history knowledge to these home owners then they deserve.

call your councilman's office and your community board. stop playing politician with 311. You pay taxes for other people to take responsibility to do their job.

Seriously? What's preventing you fromn doing your own homework? Ever hear of Google or Bing? Better yet, try nyc.gov. Sheesh. You're one of the reasons Queens is in such bad shape!

Maybe the owner is an ex con and has a great fondness for chain gang prison stripes.

I've yet to get an answer for the following scenario, which in fact is rampant in Astoria:

A legal driveway between 2 houses where a new landlord tears down the garden fence and then parks in front of the house, now a concrete slab, entering from the driveway, not the front of the house from an illegal curb cut. This is just as offensive.

Anyone?
