A little enforcement goes a long way

From Bayside Patch:

Three car dealerships in Bayside are being told to toe the line.

The 111th Precinct, at the request of community groups, towed away three cars parked in front of Star Nissan, Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Star Toyota on Thursday.

The Auburndale Improvement Association, the Bayside Clear-Spring Council and Community Board 11 members complained that the dealerships are parking cars without license plates illegally on the street. Cars without license plates cannot be ticketed.

“The Dealerships are not in compliance with the laws and were asking them to be more compliant—otherwise we’re going to have to pursue aggressive towing,” said Lt. Dan Heffernan, adding that the Precinct would rather not have to.

good job captain, now try to get the L.I.C. captain to do the same thing at 40th avenue/23 street. the sidewalks and street are an obstacle course daily.

The strange thing about the Northern Blvd business "Star" doing this is what I experienced when visiting their dealership: I could not find parking because all their vehicles were parked in metered parking spaces up and down the block.

Why is this strange you ask? I did not wind up going inside their dealership since I could not park, they lost a sale because I went elsewhere!

While they are at it, please make a few tow truck visits to Koppel at Northern Blvd and 44 Street/35 Avenue.

I would never buy a car from Star. They insist on you advertising for them by putting their decal right on the back of every brand new car. It amazes me that people tolerate this. That kind of advertising has kept me from ever going there for a car. Dopes.

Good job - no way. Star has been doing this with impunity for 15 years - tow them every day. Violate them for too many cars every day. And force the elected officials, CB and Borough President to oppose their next variance application. Enough is enough.

A little enforcement goes no where, enforcement must be as constant and relentless and the violations that make it necessary.

Don't think this is the only violation Star is guilty of. They have multiple violations at all their locations (Auburndale, Jamaica Avenue as well) every day.

at least the toyota store keeps their property clean
donates to local schools, charities and always helps someone in need.
