From the Daily News:
Cops in south Queens formed a unit early this year to combat out-of-control house parties, and some elected officials are giving the NYPD a thumbs-up for crashing them before they turn deadly.
The new initiative - which began around the same time as a spate of shootings in Springfield Gardens - deploys more officers to the scene of raging revelers, cops said.
"Because of the violence and what can emanate from these parties, we had to move it up in priority," said Assistant Chief James Secreto, commanding officer of Patrol Borough Queens South.
"Having lived out here," the Queens native said, "I know how important it is to curb these parties before they get out of hand."
The growing trend of homeowners renting out their backyards for wild blowouts - along with partygoers' use of the Internet to broadcast invites - have led to more potential for violence in the summer months, officials said.
"We have [patrol] cars that monitor these parties," Secreto said, adding that any hint of hazard warrants a call to the unit.
"They call to the borough, and we'll get the resources they need out there," Secreto said, adding that it doesn't take much for a low-key affair to take a turn for the worse.

This is full of S***
In Elmhurst @ 78-23 57 Ave next to the Verizon Newtown station, this residential property is used to entertain the black car drivers and laborers by selling food, beer and fees for live music and dances.
The problem is they are loud, boisterous and fight frequently. On weekends there are drunken men found sleeping in the grass along side the LIE service road and garbarge from the festivities are tossed onto the curb.
The property houses a derelict house stitched together with a plywood to keep out the cold. An outhouse takes care of the needs of the men who drink cheap beer under a giant blue tarp canopy. The street acts as the service station oil changes, body work for the black cars that line 57 Ave 24 x 7.
there is speculation that there is much more than food and drink that attract so many lonely men here.
So where are the police, cracking down on this site? Is Elmhurst not special enough or is illegals an issue that our Police don't want to touch, or ignore crime altogether in Elmhurst vs elsewhere?
Secreto should figure out PBQS has had a humongous noise problem that has been ignored for years. How much time has his new task force spent in his pcts west of the VanW on a Saturday nite? Betcha the answer is zip.
What part is the s*** part? Has anyone called the police? Have you called the cops? Called the TV press? You seem to know what's going on, do something about it.
Al Sharpton should be parachuting on the scene to protect the "civil rights" of these "oppressed partiers" in about.....5..4..3..2..1...
How come these problems never happen in Middle Village, Forest Hills, or Bayside???
Maybe the cops will come through BLASTING like they did in that party on 144st and Lennox Avenue in Harlem. One of the men was hit 21 times and LIVED!
How about that new Brazilian place on Broadway in Astoria the 40s
You can hear the party in the backyard for blocks.
The 114th doesn't .... oh ... sorry....
my bad.

Yes, inquiring minds and my lying eyes would like to know!
Ah, Merde!!!!
ROUND UP THE USUAL SUSPECTS!!!!!
More NYPD flimflam. Have task force, but pcts in Qns are all short of cops evryday for patrol. Try calling 311 on a Sat nite to make a noise complaint. Long wait for anyone to pick up the phone then wait hours more for a cop to show up, drive by and say call is unfounded.
1 sgt and 8 clueless rookies............ that will last...........

My Whore neighbor has out of control 24 hour parties all the time and when Taxpayers call 311 we are told that the cops have 8 hrs to respond !!! They never show up:( Our precinct is the 109th and anyone familiar with them knows THEY DON'T CARE!!!! This skank is an Illegal from Colombia and she loves to party with teens!!! And still NOTHING is ever done about her parties I've got Drunk, Drugged up kids pucking in my driveway but where are the cops!!!!
Call 911 about loud noise and they refer you to 311 or transfer you.
If a car is sent over, it is generally too late or the party is hip to what's coming at them or moved on.
People boil up and build steam and that how confrontations start on hot evenings. The Police should prevent these parties or investigate them when reported.

Capitan Renault - I suspect you have been holding a few of these loud parties in Maspeth?

It happens every weekend in middle village. Just drive on copper ave to between 78 and 76st. House party in front with a home made bbq in the gutter.
Two weeks ago on a saturday this family that rents had a girls birthday party in front of the house. They must have had 50 people standing on the sidewalk and in the street. The DJ was blasting the music till midnight.
Tried calling the 104pct from like 4pm to 7pm and no one would pick up the phone. Finally called 311 and they put me thru to 911 cause of all the people there. No cop car every showed up and the party ended at 2am.
Next day nothing but litter in the street and the fire hydrant was still running from when they used it as the partys pool.
Liz Crowley..are u alive? Help us in the forgotten lands of middle village.

Same situation in Elmhurst - big crowds making loud music well past 11pm cut-off & not police response. I suspect the Police Officers may know the house and be of the same heritage and thus conflicted, not showing up to close the after-hours party.
Ditto for Maspeth; family on 52nd Drive bet. 73rd & 74th has parties all the time till all hours. Call the 104 and get no answer. Call 311 who takes the info and gives you a confirmation number. Check the confirmation number on line the next day and it says that the 104 responded and there was no party.
