Dromm supporters waste their time protesting

From the Times Ledger:

Even after City Councilwoman Helen Sears (D-Jackson Heights) released a statement Friday denouncing anonymous attacks against her Democratic rival, Danny Dromm, Jackson Heights residents protested in front of her office Sunday claiming she refused to speak out against the smear campaign.

“Council member Sears strongly condemns this negative and anonymous type of campaigning,” campaign spokesman Erik Joerss said in a statement sent Friday to Gay City News, two days before the protest in front of Sears’ Jackson Heights office. “She is committed to focusing on the important issues facing the families of Jackson Heights, Corona, Elmhurst, East Elmhurst and Rego Park.”

Joerss said the Sears campaign sent the statement Saturday, the day before the protest, to the Empire State Pride Agenda.

Dromm campaign spokesman Bryan Collinsworth said neither the organizers of the protest nor the campaign had seen Sears’ public denunciation of the attacks before the demonstration.

Dromm backers claimed Sears was the only candidate in the race for her Council seat who had not denounced the mailing as of Sunday even though she had repudiated the attacks Friday. The other contender, Stanley Kalathara, spoke out against it.

It';s a waist of time and efforts. Be positive, have a nice and clean campaing and keep spending Working Family Party's WFP money. Remember WFP pay for Dromms staff, they are not volunteers, they are getting tax payers money, OUR MONEY

THEY SHOULD PROTEST IN FRONT OF DANNY DROMM OFFICE.

Danny Dromm says:

1) He was arrested in 1972 in Nassau County for prostitution because he believed he would be put in a mental institution against his will for being homosexual.

2) He was arrested in 1975 in Queens County for Criminal Impersonation of Another Person With Intent To Defraud, Motor Vehicle License Suspension and Failure to have Vehicle Insurance because his boyfriends jeans had no pockets and were too tight.

3) He was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated in 1988 in Queens while he was a teacher and the discussion of this arrest is "homophobic."

7 Total Arrest Charges
5 Misdemeanors
3 Total Convictions

4- AGAINST OF BOARD OF ELECTION LAW ALLOWING FULL TIME WFP STAFF WORKING FOR HIS CAMPAIGN.

Tsk, tsk, tsk...what a sad day when extremely important issues go unresolved and we must cater to the ever so slightest whims of the king (make that queen) of the homos!

Everybody in NYC doesn't have to be forced to dance to the tune of a different Drommer!

Poor, poor Danny. The WFP folks are taking him for all his money. And he will lose by 30 points and Sears hasnt even attacked him. What kind of crazy strategy was this ? The guy should shut up and plan his next run. She is 82 years old. It is (was) his seat. Now a bunch of kids are going to have him owing $100,000 in fines PERSONALLY. Do you junderstand that Danny ? What the deal Danny ? WFP telling you "dont worry Danny, we worked it out with CFB, just give us a check for 10K and its ok." What a fuckin stooge.

Danny Dromm is against our club. He didnt support Van Braner, or the other leader in Maspeth. He went with Crowley looking for his support. What a shame, he's the enemy #1 of our community. Danny is supportin Elizabeth Crowley and she is against GAY MARRIAGE. What a circus.... get lost dear Danny

Feel sorry for Dromm said...

That story on CFB wasnt an accident after they went against Bloomberg. His people own the paper (the owner is his media buyer) and his staff researched the story. And Bloomberg nopw that he went to war wont want the WFP stooges in the Council.

Dromm is going to end up owing over $100,000 in fines. The CFB has a massive, massive investagation going on. The NY Times is about to editorialize against the WFP aggresively. The CFB is waiting for the end of the campaigns to do the fines that are personally liable.

Dromm is a fool.

why would a guy who spent ten years working the system like a master, throw it all away and listen to a bunch of smelly hippie kids, who send those freaks in the picture to scream at an old lady who is popular in her district (as will be evident on election day) without even first checking if she sent out a press release ?

Or is that some master political strategy ?

What bunch of idiots are running this guys campaign.

and once the CFB fine settles in, his political career is over. and they could moan and groan that they were gay baited all they like (and by making up this lie Danny lost his moral high ground and will not be forgiven by many in jackson Heights), but the reality is, John Sabini will be the next Councilman in that district when Helen leaves. and Danny could end up back to being the hyper aggressive guy at that parade in woodside. a sad figure.

I have lived in Jackson Heights for over 47 years. I know Sabini, and Paul Lewis, and Destefano, and Peter Raffael and I was an on and off member of the JFK and other clubs. Ive met Danny Dromm a few times but dont really know him.

I met him on the streets last week with some volunteers and when I brought up this arrest issue to his volunteer the guy says to me "Can you believe they are gay baiting Danny in this day and age." Now Im not gay, but I guess could pass. Im certainly a liberal, and thats clear.

I was going to say something to Dromm, but didnt want to embarass him by bringing up the arrest stuff. Quite honestly, who cares ? A freakin drunk driving arrest 20 years ago ? Some whacky thing when he was 16 ? Are you joking ? Does anyone remember what we (including the aforementioned) were doing at 16 in the school playgrounds ?

But my point is that I will never vote for Dromm. Sears should have retired and the term lmits vote was ridiculous. But Dromm insults my inteligence. What does a DWI have to do with homophobia ? Is this how he starts his career, with a ridiculous lie to voters ? Its quite, quite insulting to gay people who have been discriminated against.

And maybe Danny needs to talk to someone other than crazy Brendan Fey or the folks from outside this community volunteering on his campaign. The truth is, Danny hasnt lived here that long. Cause the gay folks I know, some (not all) think Dromms whole arrest thing is weird and phony. Thats what I hear on the steps of buildings and at the P.O. And I am talking about the folks who remember Fields and Woolworths on 82nd street and we are still the ones who vote. Gays included.

So I dont know. Thoughts ? Comments ?

When is this campaign ending so Dromm the homophobe can go back to Flushing where he is from. The guy is a cancer to the gay community with that swarthy voice and Chester the Molester eyes. He gives me the creeps.

i agree with Anonymous. I mean, Jackson Heights is an intellectual community. Its still not clear to me what exactly the gay baiting is ? someone send out his arrest record ? I mean everyone on the streets knows who sent it out. Con Ed just lost a whole bunch of stamps. Cmon. But thats just dirty politics. Nothing to do with discrimination. Danny should have just apolized for the drunk driving episode and said anything else was when he was a teenager. Now this has become the talk of the Heights.

With all of the back door politics going on at city hall Dromm is the perfect pick!

Danny is in hot water and NOBODY IS GOING TO RESCUE HIM...

Danny is in very hot water at this point. I don't like the fact that some people are making him out to be innocent. He has a criminal record. Its not even like if it was a one time thing, it happend a few times. At this point he should consider dropping out of the race.
