John Liu: Cheesy, saucy and crusty

From the Times Ledger:

For City Councilman John Liu (D-Flushing), politics may be his profession, but pizza is his passion.

“I eat pizza almost every day,” Liu said, while taking a bite of his second slice of cheese pizza at Amore Pizza in Flushing. “That’s one of the best things about running for a citywide office: I get to sample pizza from all over the city. No matter where you are in New York, there’s always at least one pizza place.”

Liu, a former pizza deliveryman himself, said Amore Pizza in the Pathmark Shopping Center on Farrington Street in Flushing has been his barometer to judge the taste of the Italian standby for more than 20 years.

“I’ve been coming here for more than 20 years,” Liu said. “This is the best. This is how I gauge what is good and what is not.”

Try Sal's Pizza on Jamaica Ave. between 85th and 86th Street in Woodhaven. It doesn't get any better that that!

So Liu loves pizza.

And that's a reason for an article?

You can see on the subway tracks that the rats also love the pizza. So we should vote for rats?

Or, is the paper saying that Liu is a rat?

I like how someone whose father was convicted of bank 'mismanagement', who is a likely cousin of Tommy Hwang, will be our next comptroller.

Anyone assembling a collection of Thomas Nast cartoons?

I think we are going to use them over the next few years.

You can judge chow mein.

Leave the pizza judging to Italians!

Another photo op (#3,001? and counting) while Liu who's the son of a convicted felon...the "Great Eastern Bank" job runs for comptroller.

Better put a pick-proof padlock on the city's wallet with Joe Liu's #1 son on the loose!

Pizza Chef in the Whitestone Shopping Center stinks. This tells me he has no taste in pizza.

For me, it's always Graziella's Pizzeria in Bayside.

Marino's in North Flushing has new owners (and new decor). Give them a try.

The best pizza is Rizzo's in Astoria and has been for the last 50 years.

Liu can eat pizza in jail where he belongs

If Liu is elected - and considering the ignorant electorate - it is possible - it will only be a matter of time before he is dragged out in cuffs ala Miguel Martinez. The temptations for corruption are too great for this guy whose behavior to date has not been ethical. (Tow trucks for starters)

I think all the candidates suck but will probably vote for Lassky, the lesser of all the evils.

Today it was Italian Sausage in Whitestone Park

Liu was at my show tonight and made a speech. All the Dept of Sanitation and Park workers cheered and told us to vote for him.

I dont know much about his district but those guys sure believe he’s god or something.

Italian Girl you didnt come or hear it ?

"Rizzo's"

Let me first say Pizza can not be re-heated !
I made pizza as a kid at my Uncles "Joes" on Knickerbocker and DeKalb"

Agreed Rizzo's However sadly Ive had bad experiences lately even at 12 noon

The last 2 I was (about 2 years ago) there were no Rizzo's or Joanne (who I knew) behind the counter.
The place was dirty. This Latino handed me 2 dried up re-heated slices on a dirty greasy tray.
Those slices may as well been off a pie cooked/frozen/reheated/cut/left to dry up and reheated again.

It was just awful !
Not the same as it was in the 80's and 90's, it was also spicy like Spanish food. Not the same sauce WTF ?

Italian girls also right --Graziella's Bayside.

What that Pizza across the street (North East) from the junkyards in the L shaped shopping center ?
I had a slice off a fresh pie it wasn't bad however The piece of meatball hero was just awful.

How many of them still live in NYC?

I had a birds eye view from the stage.
Being that there wasnt one live body that didnt cheer Johnny Liu (aside this Asian man in a bathrobe and pink open toe slippers)

Id say those Sanitation and Parks people were ALL from Queens.
They had baseball teams based out of Memoriel Field on 147th st

"When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that's...." PAYOLA!

Liu is Tommy Huang's cousin and it's been said that Huang owned a few judges.

Daddy Joseph Liu got off with just a slap on the wrist for committing federal bank fraud!

H-m-m-m-m!

Marco Polo may have brought pasta back from China but WTF does a balding Taiwanese clubhouse manipulated CM with a budding spare tire around his middle know about" ah pizza"?

I suppose when he visits the lower east side on his next photo op safari he'll become an expert on Pastrami, corned beef and knishes.

Phony ass finger puppet!

Toby S. will you please remove your digit from Liu's butt.

He's already done your bidding with a smirk and a "yes" nod!
