Sex trafficking also took place at sordid and violent Kew Gardens hotel

Forest Hills Post

Local lawmakers are again calling on the city to shut down a crime-ridden hotel in Kew Gardens after it was discovered that a man was forcing a 16-year-old girl into prostitution inside its hotel rooms.

Council Member Karen Koslowitz and a representative from Assembly Member Daniel Rosenthal’s office denounced the Umbrella Hotel, located at 124-18 Queens Blvd., during a Community Board 6 meeting Wednesday night. They called yet again for the city to completely shut it down, noting the sex trafficking that took place inside its hotel rooms.

The hotel was the scene of a child sex trafficking scheme in September in which 30-year-old Jordan Adderley forced a 16-year-old to have sex with strangers for money, which he pocketed, according to a criminal complaint. Adderley, who was arrested on Oct. 1 on slew of charges, allegedly threatened to kill the young teen if she didn’t comply.

The Umbrella Hotel and the recent trafficking arrest was brought up by Koslowitz at the Community Board meeting.

“We have very serious problems in Kew Gardens with the Umbrella Hotel,” Koslowitz said. “They just arrested someone on child prostitution. There were shootings there, there were fights there, there were parties there and it’s been a very serious problem.”

She told the board members that she and other local lawmakers have been repeatedly trying to address the growth of crimes at the hotel, but City Hall has been “unresponsive.”

I wish we still had the death penalty in ny.

This same shit also took place at Rev. Floyd Flake's Senior Citizen's apartments on Merrick, a few blocks from his church a few years back and there was hardly a peep about it. But face it, when you turn a hotel into a homeless shelter (which is not designed for a homeless shelter) and have no rules, regulations or security, what do you expect. And where where all those local leaders from the area when this shit was converting or better yet, when it was built as a hotel. So happy that I am have been long gone form the shittiest city in the country. Why do someone of you still stay? It is a one big super expensive, overcrowded SHIT HOLE.

Melinda, you political hack, putting innocent people in jail for the donors' jail industry, this shit is going on next door to you?

What the fuck are you doing about it?

@Anon re: Flake

This hotel is not a homeless shelter. It was meant to be a luxury housing buidling but was converted to a luxury hotel, but it decided to allow parties and events there.

It's basically like a red light district catering hall.

It also looks like it used to be a government building too going by the entrance.

@JQ.

Exactly. They did the same crap in Manhattan also.

The Queens DA is apparently OK with this right next door to their office.

Shootings, prostitution, drugs and now sex trafficking.

Right across from the COURT!

The simple fact of the matter is that Queens is like this as its residents have never received education to be a good citizen - they may knock white men who founded this republic, but they do not understand that you can pass laws until you turn green, but if it is a success or failure depends on the SOCIAL CULTURE.

With all its faults, people knew what was expected of them in behavior, values, rules and liberties. We welcomed people form around the world who learned the language, how to earn a living, but never understood what to expect from their elected officials who took advantage of them.

This is a crime, perhaps the principals made donations, certainly everyone knows what is happening -just check out the reviews on this place. Exhibit A of a deeply dysfunctional borough (look at everything posted on this blog from the Steinway Mansion to Jimmy Van Bramer, and before that Gleason and Cassidy and Mannes) to realize the pattern here.

I see no change on the horizon, especially now that the founders, and their culture is being tossed to the ground, only that things will be getting worse.

Just did. Learned a lot. Despicable. How the hell is this allowed? Where do 800,000 kids in USA disappear annually? Makes no sense.

-----------

A few years ago, the did put homeless people into this hotel, which then was a Comfort Inn (first single men, then families). Above it was rentals, which had a different entrance way after the homeless came in.

Last Anon re: Comfort Inn.

Thanks for sending this link. I knew there was something off about his hotel. Now it makes sense why the city hasn't been responsive. Smells like the proprietor has political connections and donated sizable sums to our elected officials.

It also explains why Karen Koslowitz is not being much of a Karen to stop this recidivist playpen.

Sure JQ, very good point! Is not hard to figure out. The Queens political machine is behind this. Shootings, sex trafficking, prostitution and drugs next to the DA's office? Now how the FUCK is that possible if they are not in on it? How?
