Ridgewood warehouse to be turned into artists' studios

From Brownstoner Queens:

A tipster recently passed along news that the four-story warehouse at 46-55 Metropolitan Avenue — right next door to the popular Ridgewood restaurant Bun-Ker — is slated to become artist studios. The tip was confirmed by a contact listed on this Department of Buildings application, which specifies an “interior renovation with partition works on 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor.” (Requests to the actual building owner went unanswered.) We couldn’t get any more specifics, except that the warehouse will be converted into commercial spaces for artistic use.

sure that will be a place to work and not a residence or a hostel.

I hope people realize that a majority of these hipster doofusses are lame versions of bansky(Lameskys')and dabble mostly in street art aka acceptable city and developer sanctioned graffiti by whites.

this is just even more welfare for the supposed creative class. It was outlined in mayor big slow's address recently.there have been various articles on how these types bring nothing beneficial to the towns they populate.

the location is nice for generation gentrification, there is already what used to be urban blight on the wall and the artisan restaraunt right there.and up the hill is where that lousy knockdown center is.

the senselessness is not going to stop, and that includes developing by the water. It makes one hope that the western parts of queens and brooklyn is going to sink from all the collective weight.

Yeah...and what will the rent be for those poor starving artists? This sounds more like the art of the boondoggle.

Does Jerry Wolkoff own the building? Will he illegally convert it like he did at his 5 Pointz site?

Well, if people want to live here and are willing to pay gentrified prices then more power to them...

And the hipsters will get a lovely view of, and easy access to Western Beef! Not to mention chop shops and the middle of the night at grade level garbage train crossings.

There was a time when upscale luxury living meant a cushy prewar Park Ave. crib. Now the title can be applied to any spiffe d up toxic site. Hipsters might have money but they are surely short on brains.
