Queens Museum wants to host bank robber's art

From the NY Post:

He robbed banks, saying it was for “art” — and now the curator of the taxpayer-funded Queens Museum wants to honor him.

Nutty Professor Joe Gibbons — who videotaped himself ripping off banks as part of a bizarre “art project” — has snagged the prestigious invitation from the Queens Museum to show off his felonious film project.

The curator of the institution — which used $57.5 million in public money to expand — can’t wait to give a forum to this alleged public enemy, who is facing serious robbery charges.

“Once he is released, I hope to help him by extending an invitation to screen his work at the Queens Museum,” curator Larissa Harris gushed in a letter to a Manhattan judge. “This would be an enormous honor for us.”

The curator should be fired.

this might seem cliche...

but WTF

This is why this generation sucks. And why they don't deserve any subsidies or dwellings to be creative with our tax dollars.

I haven't visited this museum, and because of this and that ignorant curator I never will. And I like art, traditional and provocative.

this hack is just doing jackass videos,no different than 99.9999999998% you see on youtube.

Bill Cosby should do the same thing - sell videos of his assaults as "art". Then all will be forgiven.

In the words of Willie Sutton...the reason he robbed banks was because, "That's where the money is". Speaking of which, I would not spend my good money to see an artsy-forts offering like this. Is that the best that the Queens Museum can offer patrons? Take your cues from Brooklyn..me bhouys! That is a borough with real class.

Most of Queens' cultural institutions are a laugh. To call this place a museum is a joke. How about mounting a show that highlights Quees corruption? They would not f-----g dare since it involves them.

The Queens Museum. Still odd and second rate with legions of students dutifully bussed in to justify the scandalous amount of public funds used to prop up an all but inaccessible non-entity in the middle of nowhere.

This, while community space that could house local events become bingo parlours or empty lots: their only crime is being in Queens.

Take a look at the new executive director at Queens Historical Society (with no background in history or Queens but plenty of ideas on how to reach out to funding sources in your community) or self-appointed cultural maven Jimmy pushing the Steinways on the sorry shell of what was once Astoria Performing Arts while keeping his head low on the mansion.

It seems as if our political leadership (in Queens is their anything else?) has their own painfully limited warped world-view and has their hands in our taxes to make it a reality.

Pretty sad.

The best we can do is to point and laugh, then ignore them and go about our lives doing the things we all should do to keep our sanity and our borough's tattered reputation somehow moving forward.

The curator is most likely a friend of the Queens clubhouse.

Of course they do. And next, with Duhblazio and Al Sharpton in command, we'll have the art of cop killers on display.

The Queens Museum is never busy. They have boring, third-rate exhibits. Their staff is very rude. What a waste of $60million!

Bear sodomizing a man, half million dollar pink blob of clay, and now bank robbery videos. But Civic Virtue? Can't have that - would offend our sensibilities.

I think this sounds like an interesting exhibit, I'm going to see it.

I only wish Professor Gibbons was a member of a minority group, physically challenged, or transgendered, because then his work would be even more VIBRANT!

Queens surely produces a bumper crop of crooked politicians. Well, isn't that what former farm land is for?
