"Thought you might like to see what has sprouted over in my neck of the woods on 75th Street in Middle Village.
The entire eastern side of the street, save for a few smaller houses at the end
...and one that juts out into the middle of the street (I think it's a really old one - but even that has a crap house wrapped around it) look like this.
Notice how the cars have to park 2 deep.
Those houses are built with their backyards facing freight railroad tracks. The same exact thing is happening on the other side of the tracks, on 76th Street. It's a shame because the open space could have instead been converted into parkland or a nature trail. There were so many butterflies that would pass along the tracks each year.
