Large parking lot created on sidewalk

There are a bunch of complaints for this house at 161-04 Sanford Avenue, but let's focus on the driveway permits, since that's been a theme lately. Looks like they were stopped in 2007, but resumed work shortly after:
Take a look at the Google Street View. It's a doozy!

Only 2 cars? And at least, they kinda match!

If they build an "illegal" driveway what are their legal obligations after the fact ?

How is this allowed to happen?

This will DESTORY the neighborhood.

You have to stalk the DOB to get them to come and see it.

Destroy. The damage has already been done. This kind of destruction is all over so many communities of Queens. Did you take a look at that street on Google. It is a mess of tons of this kind of shit. Jamaica is littered with this as well and all of this seemed to have taken place between 2005-2007. I reported over 30 such places. They started this illegal work in 2005, while many neighbors filed complaints, DOB checked it out, did not see any violations and allowed it to happen. In 2012, I reported these same properties, DOB came out, ignored most and the ones that they did give a summons (one or two), nothing changed.

Neighborhoods have already been destroyed and elected officials, Queens Borough Presidents and so many other city officials have allowed this shit to happen.

This destruction has been years in the making.

What about a class action law suit against the DOB?

They have failed to enforce their own laws, they have caused our property values to go down.

They are destroying Queens and they don't care. All we need is a lawyer who cares and people to back them up.

"Forget it Jake...it's Chinatown"!
In Flooshing, anything goes. Orientals are exempt from law enforcement. We don't wish to offend the Asians who were responsible for keeping Flushing from becoming. South Jamaica.

Drive by at night and it looks like a parking lot !
Google street view films mostly midday.

Oxygen is so over-rated.

If you can see there is a sign on the corner of the building above the gas service that states illegal park cars will be towed !
What a joke, all the cars are parked illegally.

Boring building....no trees....yawn. If I had to come home to this after a hard day's work , I'd consider taking the gas pipe. Excuse me, but the only thing that Queens might offer is a touch of suburban living. No green....no reason not to live in Manhattan's concrete jungle. At least there you get interesting architecture. What a borgiose borough!

Cheaper than the developer putting in a garage. Queens just loves getting ass fucked.

Hey guys I took a look they aren't technically parking on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is only about 5 feet after the grass, The rest is the front yard. Now it may look like sidewalk because there's no fence there and it's all cement but it's private property.

It's illegal to pave over the front yard and it's illegal to park on it.

Actually it's not illegal to pave/cement your front yard. Where did you hear that from. If it was, they, and all these new construction houses I see would have never passed inspection and received their final c of o. I see many homes with cement front yards with building permits still in the windows. That means the cement is on the blueprints and the prints were up to code and approved. Please don't spread disinformation.

Now about the parking , honestly not sure about parking in your yard these days. I know years ago in the seventies and eighties you were allowed to park a car in your yard as long as it had a plate on it I think. inguess They didn't want people turning the yard into a junkyard. Even still, I remember everyone had cars parked in their yards with no plates. Especially muscle cars. Lol.

It's been illegal since the Yards Text Amendment was passed in 2007. Look it up.
