More hotels coming to Fresh Meadows

From the Queens Courier:

Fresh Meadows is seriously becoming a destination.

Two six-story hotels under the Marriott brand are being built in the neighborhood, marking another big hotel chain coming to the mostly residential area.

The Courier recently reported about the Mayflower Business Group’s 11-story Hilton hotel under construction in Fresh Meadows on 186th Street, which will target students and immigrants from China.

East West United Realty Development is working on this double Marriott project, which is on the other side of the Long Island Expressway, at 183-31 Horace Harding Expwy. The right building will be a Courtyard Hotel and the left will be Fairfield Inn and Suites, which are brands of Marriott hotels.

The hotels will offer a combined 218 rooms and underground parking.

Unlike Mayflower’s Hilton building, this double Marriott brand project will target all tourists coming to New York City, according to the developer representatives.

Yes because the first thing I say on my trip as a tourist is "let's go to fresh meadows in queens where there is no trains and no sites to see". This will just be used as a Chinese whore house. You will see garbage chinese coming out with whores....let the higher crime rates begin!! We will see when the first smuggler, whore or human trafficker will be arrested.

Oh come on. Hotels in Fresh Meadows? What happened to the student dorms that were recently reported to be built here? Or is billing them as popular hotel chains a sneaky way of getting them built and THEN changing them to dorms? The people of Queens are catching on to developers' shenanigans .

Wow - the Qdoba is going to more crowded than ever!

Why would a tourist want to stay all the way out there? It's a good hour to commute to the city, more like an hour and a half to points below 14th St.!!! If you can't afford Manhattan you should rethink your trip!

Future homeless shelters!

When there is no more room left in downtown Flushing the next logical place to build more. Hotels is in the under built Fresh Meadows.

Can you imagine what these buildings will look like in 20 years of pollution and poor maintenance?

This is 21st century Duhblazio Homeless Housing-- fully paid by the NYC taxpayer, until we decide to leave and take our taxes elsewhere.

I was just by the hotel building site today with my mother inlaw, who's been a Fresh Meadows resident for most of her life, and she'll be 90 this year. We were both upset by what we observed- a large building in the middle of,the Fresh Meadows complex adjacent to the shopping center with Michaels. We discussed our feelings album this absolutely catastrophic hotel smack in the middle of a large residential area. We came to the conclusion that it will be a super sized brothel. There just isn't another explanation for this monstrosity. Where were the local legislators on this? Would, this happen in Bay Terrace? I,think not!! This is horrific!

By the way, Crappy, the hotel on the westbound side of the LIE is about 2 blocks from Francis Lewis High School. Doesn't anyone give a crap about the 4,600 kids who attend? A hotel can bring in any number of unsavories from wherever. Fresh Meadows is ruined forever

This open space is supposed to be the parking lot for those new two family houses behind this lot. The garages in the basement of those two family houses were removed due to the steep slope. Those two family got their c/o by claiming to use this open space as their parking lot.

no, this is so the black large homeless families can be forced onto a white area. the Dept of Homeless Services will pay good money to put crackheads in that hotel.

Last anon, this is not a "white area"!! It's very integrated and middle class!! Fresh Meadows used to be a very desirable area for families but the local legislators have sold it down the river.

Wasn't Fresh Meadows originally known as "Black Stump"? My, my, my...how real estate developers can quickly change a name to suit their purposes.

Residents of narrow 2-way 186th street fronting the 12storey hotel under construction and the nearby neighborhood are complaining the noise, the hauling of monstrous materials disturbing traffic, late working hours, obstruction of parking spaces, access to driveways. Their problem now is Cross City Construction handling the construction with Mayflower Business gave each residents across the street and posted around the area that 186th street will be CLOSED STARTING FROM MAY 8 TO JUNE 3 FROM 8AM TO 4PM MONDAY TO FRIDAY. The dwellers of the single family homes across who so suddenly inconvenience with this construction. They cannot use their driveways; in case of emergencies or deliveries, etc. Brazen foreigners are menacing private residents lives. What are the authorities doing??? Private residents need help, particularly the elders living across.

That shit needs to be torn down asap. Who cares about the chinese immigrants, isnt that why they have flushing. They need to go back to china and tear that hotel down. There will be no parking or space in this neighborhood

I remember when Fresh Meadows was new -- 1950. Aaah, what memories of a fine area. Since the 1980s, this area has been going downhill with: trash, prostitution after hours, graffiti, crime. So these hotels put the "icing on the cake" because they will pull more unsavory characters into the area. So sorry for the homeowners on both sides of the LIE.
