Dopey subway poster calls Elmhurst a "new" neighborhood

"Hey Crapper, I took this pic a few weeks ago and completely forgot about it till now. These have been plastered ALL over the Grand Ave subway stop on the mezzanine and platforms, as well as billboards up on the streets.

I just didn't know that Elmhurst was a "new neighborhood." I guess the definition of new must be anything under 350yrs old or at least under 115yrs old, if you want to go by just the name of Elmhurst itself being used.

But hey, with real estate in Queens, anything goes to move prices up and move properties out." - J

I guess "J" is unfamiliar with marketing.

"New York City is famous for reinventing itself and there is a renaissance underway now in Elmhurst, Queens. The Continental Park is at the center of it, where the best in contemporary interiors, spacious apartment layouts and a rare residents’ only private park offer an incomparable lifestyle and an exciting opportunity for discerning buyers...

Elmhurst, Queens has been a neighborhood in waiting, a find yet to be discovered and heralded as New York City’s next hot neighborhood. It has an eclectic mix of restaurants, shops and activities."

Is this a "rehabbed " apartment building?

You won't be seeing trees like that when you look out the window. That's for sure.

And just think, this cool contemporary exquisite edifice offers the opportunity and privilege to purchase a piece of this nouveau neighborhood that is just blocks, a two minute walk, from the new and improved Pan American Shelter for the discerning homeless.

The New Elmhurst...a renaissance neighborhood for those who treasure de Blasio enforced diversity!

"Finest Residence", you got to be kidding, while the building does not look too bad (I think mine in Jamaica is way better), the block looks just like so much of the rest of Queens, just third world dreck. The place next door and across the street look like shit and I am sure filled with typical Queens shit folks.

YUK! And I doubt you will find anyone like the couple in the photo in that place.

For the most part, they have totally fucked up so much of Queens. It truly resembles a third world shit hole country.

Coming from an immigrant family, I thought the whole idea was to get away from your country to make a better life for yourself, not turn your new country into a somewhat mirror image of the shit you left behind.

Where's the pix of the lady w/the shopping cart w/100s of recyclable bottles she's collected hanging off the side?

Sure, and the kids can stay at the 'Happy Smile Day Care' with the other kids whose mothers are cleaning houses and working in sweatshops, or shop for fish heads at the 'New Golden Sparkling Market' before the hipster foodie kids from LIC discover it.

Then there is the general squalor of Broadway and the delightful curry smells from your neighbor that not only permeates the hallways but has the wonderful trait of being absorbed into your bedclothes.

The former cocaine capital of NYC...they're pushing awfully hard to take the Los curse off the area.

This area is slated for mega development if the LIRR is considering building a 40 million dollar station there. It will probably run more like 80 million in cost over runs.
