House or church or something more?

"This church is on 45 ave and 202 street. This church has been up for a few years now and I am just wondering how it is still standing? This church has a violation against it and had 2 complaints against it already. The other problem with this church is that it owns five attached houses! How was this church even allowed to buy 5 attached houses and make only one of them a church and another one a community center instead of just tearing the lot down and building an actual building or buying an actual empty lot? I had questioned CB11 about this and they had told me that it was legal, however, they have a violation against them which they said they will address at their meeting with the Dept. of Buildings. So when they did question them, they had told the CB11 that they will look into it. This property had this violation from 7/2011 and is still not resolved!

The woman who lives right next door to this church has told me that they only open their doors on Sunday and when they do, the very few members that it does have, block her driveway. Meanwhile, they have signs up on their own property's windows saying "no parking in driveway". She has told me that when she called the police, they had told her she had no right to complain since she only rents her house. She also told me that they blast music every Sunday morning, not even in the church but outside of the church!

I was even told from another source that from Monday-Friday a woman comes in to clean at 5:30am then they play the church music and for the rest of the day, it is not opened! With 8.3 million people in this city, I wonder why they were allowed to buy 5 houses when NYC is already in a housing crunch? Call me suspicious but I think there is something more going on with this location than what the community board wants to admit!" - anonymous

At one point, they planned to put a 3-story building here, until DOB shot them down. My favorite is the herb store in the basement.

The city is reluctant to mess with churches. Particularly churches that serve ethnic minority populations.
Just look at the number of "churches" that exist in Queens now compare to 50 years ago. I'd bet at least 10 times more. But they are all small "boutique" churches.
Would be interesting to check the tax status of these "churches".

More crap and bad crap. Talk about your third world crap apartments, now you have a third world crap looking church as well.

Amazing that the city allow for the integrity of Queens to be destroyed little by little with shit like this all the time.

And they wonder why people have the attitudes toward some immigrants.

Teddy Kennedy's immigration law changes made sure Queens would go third world, and it has.

And people wonder why people in bayside have such hostility towards the immigrants moving in! Look at this! Its broken and run down! Bayside before the 2000s was a nice peaceful area to live in..... and now its just an expensive piece of crap to live in! These houses would probably be sold for 450000 which makes it even worst - For these little attached homes!! This is what happens when the "middle income" families in that section sell out to the non-european/black immigrants! Have you seen rosedale, laurelton and cambria heights lately? Props to those Caribbean people for building up those areas! Those areas will become the bayside of the the per 2000s.....bayside is now as crappy as flushing!!

MHO? don't call cops or 911 on these places. call 311 and log your complaints, get a complaint number when you call. In the long run that's what's going to shut down these fake churches.
They're only fronts for business.
I had that horrible horrible noise from a Korean church across from me. made the 311 complaints, then gave those complaint numbers to the Community Board. stopped that crap right there. when the organization knows it will eventually get fined and can't sell the place because of it.
call 311 every day. tell your neighbors to call also. 311 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Community Boards are a waste! They do absolutely nothing except hand out liquor licenses.
