Weiner didn't stop being a perv after resigning

From WPIX:

It was just a matter of time before something surfaced, and today it did. A gossip website quotes a 22-year-old woman as claiming she had a six-month relationship with the disgraced former Congressman who is now running for Mayor. Weiner has warned that more texts and lewd pictures might surface, but the shocker is that the new action occurred after he resigned from Congress in 2011.

The website “The Dirty” contends communications between Weiner and the woman continued as recently as August of last year—well over a year after he left office.

Weiner has acknowledged the new revelations, saying that while some of the assertions are true, others are not. PIX11 will have a full report at 10. Meanwhile, two of his Democratic opponents, Bill DeBlasio and Sal Albanese have called on Weiner to withdraw from the campaign. De Blasio said simply, “Enough is enough.”

Quick poll: No other options allowed - Weiner or Quinn?

Sadly, would have to hold my nose and vote for the perv.

If it comes to that--I prefer a candidate who screws his mistress (whoever) rather than the public.

More bluntly--Mel Brooks ("2000 Year Old Man" comedy routine) on political sex scandals, "Better they should f--k their girl friends than us".

Prediction: more perv details to come and Weiner eventually is forced to drop out of the race. And Huma drops him sometime in 2014.

Yet another example of the sick political culture in NYC.

And he is still better than Crissy who overturned term limits and is the favorite of Bloomberg.

Acting like a child is one thing, treating us like children is something else.

Besides, the life style she leads in most corners of the earth would be considered decadent.

She sticks up for her husband, just like her boss Hillary stood by her cheating husband Bill.

Weiner must think the voters are really stupid. He could care less he has such an ego. Once a cheat always a cheat.

How is this still a campaign point, or even a news point? We all like to point and laugh, or point and ostracize, but the fact is that EVERYONE, not just politicians, has a private life. Who gives a shit? Like ANY politician is clean, pure, and good, and sincerely out for the public's interest and not their own? America is like a bunch of babies running around in the schoolyard ratting each other out, all the while hoping they themselves don't get caught doing their dirty stuff.

Big fucking deal about his sex life, it has no bearing on his ability to run a city. I will take his private screwing as opposed to public screwing which way too many politicians do, including Quinn.

It amazes me that people still make a big deal about this stuff but make no big deal about the leaders who screw the public over and over again.

Weiner publicly screwed the 9th CD when he was congressman. Just ask some people from his former district. The fact that he was supporting a tunnel project that would have resulted in tens of thousands more truck trips in part of his district in order to curry favor with Jerry Nadler is just one example.

Damn! Now we're stuck with Quinn. Welcome to hell

Hold your horses!

"My dear, I don't care what they do, so long as they don't do it in the street and frighten the horses." - British actress Beatrice Tanner Campbell upon replying to a young actress that an older actor in a production showed too much affection for the leading man.

Folks, Weiner is doing it in the street.

I think Joe Lhota is smiling today - his stock just went up. A lot of Giuliani Dems will vote for Lhota over Quinn or Weiner.

Anonymous said...

Joe, this isn't about his private conductm it's about someone with an impulse control disorder, who had to quit his job, and less than a year later, is still engaing in the same behavior, but tells us that all is ok and he can be the executive of the 'world" capital? I know you'd rahter have him than Quinn, but do you think he's going to clean up Jamaica? And for all of you bemoaning Quinn, you will have an independent cadiate and a Republican candidate to vote for in the general election.

Another thing people don't mention is, if this guy cannot control himself and evidence of his embarrassing behavior gets into the wrong hands, it could be used to blackmail him into using his power in a way that hurts the public.

So yeah, I DO think the sexting is important, because fear of shameful exposure is not something I want from people in power

Bill Thomspon's slogan should be "Get Serious!" He is the only adult running!

Ant-knee is the perfect candidate, as he is a great allegory for the corruption in the City's soul.

I think you all make too much out of the whole sex thing (unless of course it is with a minor). Hell which one of us lead such a pure life, I mean in that case no one should be running for any type of office.

Anon stated "Another thing people don't mention is, if this guy cannot control himself and evidence of his embarrassing behavior gets into the wrong hands, it could be used to blackmail him into using his power in a way that hurts the public."

REALLY, damn you are watching way too many movies.

Kurtlove666 said...

@Anonymous above^^^ you just hit one of the key words-SHAME. IF Weiner just said "yes, I engage in sexual texting and photo-sharing with other women but I DO NOT CHEAT ON MY WIFE" would he really have anything to be ashamed of?? If sexting is now considered "cheating", at what point does masturbating and thinking of a partner other than your spouse become cheating?? Is this the world we want???? HE DID NOT CHEAT ON HIS WIFE, HE SEXTED A WOMAN THAT WAS NOT HIS WIFE. Is a schoolboy fantasizing about his teacher now a reverse-pedophile? Does watching a movie about murder make you a murderer?? Or is it just the salaciousness of these kinds of titillating stories the very thing that drives them??

Indeed, Weiner supported Rep. Nadler's Cross-Harbor freight tunnel. It would have taken trucks off local highways, reduced pollution and opened up all of Long Island to freight trains.

But the angry white NIMBYs in Juniper Civic and COMET wouldn't have it.

You should have said "The only adult DEMOCRAT running."

Queens Crapper said...

"Indeed, Weiner supported Rep. Nadler's Cross-Harbor freight tunnel. It would have taken trucks off local highways, reduced pollution and opened up all of Long Island to freight trains."

That's the B.S. that was floated at the time, but it's 100% false, as transportation advocates now admit:

The transportation advocacy community is by no means united behind the proposal, Nadler's support notwithstanding.

In fact, Rich Barone, the director of transportation programs at the Regional Plan Association, told me the consensus among transportation advocates is that the tunnel would do more to alleviate traffic through New York City to Long Island, rather than within it, and, given the limited resources available for infrastructure projects, other proposals should take priority.

"With so few resources available today for large-scale projects and with such a huge need for passenger transit investments and what have you, the idea of building an exclusively freight rail tunnel for a market where the demand doesn’t really exist naturally, it’s not really a high priority at this point," he said.

“The nature of this region’s cargo is that it eventually has to be delivered by truck," agreed Mitchell Moss, an urban policy and planning professor at NYU who published a report in 1998 concluding that the tunnel would be a waste of public money.

Barone thinks that the authority should instead work on resurrecting the region's now-skeletal float bridge system, which moves containers to New York by barge, something that Nadler agrees is necessary, but says is not enough.

Queens Crapper said...

Also would like to mention that all studies have shown an increase in truck traffic with the tunnel as well as without it. But keep hanging on to the lie. The never ending stream of government-paid consultants love it.

Hysterical! Weiner the perv is getting three times the support as John Son-Of-A-Bank-Thief Liu.

Now that's embarrassing!

Hey Johnny…it’s a good time to get lost …..while nobody is looking.

Just received a long email listing all his pervy exploits and how his wife forgives him for each one. Felt like receiving an x-rated email.

Enough is enough - just put on the block the sender.

By the way, when he was in office his staff quit every couple of months.

Weiners' wife, Huma, is a ruthless, and cunning individual like her mentor, Hillary Clinton. Anthony has no choice but to continue running for mayor because his marriage is depending on it. When he loses, she will unload him and find another powerful politician to glum onto in the hopes of obtaining power and prestige that she desperately craves.

I usually don't agree with the editors of the NY Times, but they are spot on with today's editorial. I've been reading the Times for years and this is the first time I believe the words "crotch" and "penis" were used in the Grey Lady. Can I get a witness?

Mr. Weiner and the Elusive Truth

By THE EDITORIAL BOARD

Published: July 23, 2013

At some point, the full story of Anthony Weiner and his sexual relationships and texting habits will finally be told. In the meantime, the serially evasive Mr. Weiner should take his marital troubles and personal compulsions out of the public eye, away from cameras, off the Web and out of the race for mayor of New York City.

Mr. Weiner, who resigned from Congress two years ago after sending lewd messages and photos of his crotch to women he had not met, was forced to revisit the issue on Tuesday, and so were we all. A Web site called The Dirty had another woman’s story, another round of sex texts, and another picture of Mr. Weiner’s penis. The startling news was that this new episode apparently took place last summer, only a few months before Mr. Weiner was to begin another run at public office. The marital trauma that Mr. Weiner and his wife, Huma Abedin, had said was behind them was not as far behind as we thought.

When the first texts were revealed two years ago, Mr. Weiner lied about it, saying he had been the victim of hackers. Then he owned up, tearfully abandoned his office and retreated into private life. Then he was back, telling the world that therapy and his wife’s forgiveness had turned him around and that he was ready to begin a new chapter. That turned out to be the mayor’s race, which he entered in May. What he did not say then, and what voters did not realize until Tuesday, was that his resignation had not been the end of his sexual misconduct.

The timing here matters, as it would for any politician who violates the public’s trust and then asks to have it back. Things are different now, he insists. “This behavior is behind me,” he said again on Tuesday. He suggested that people should have known that his sexting was an unresolved problem well into 2012.

That’s ridiculous and speaks to a familiar but repellent pattern of misleading and evasion. It’s up to Mr. Weiner if he wants to keep running, to count on voters to forgive and forget and hand him the keys to City Hall. But he has already disqualified himself.

It’s difficult not to feel for Ms. Abedin. The couple deserved privacy as they worked through their problems — and they had it, until they re-emerged in public life and Mr. Weiner decided he was a good fit to run New York City. Mr. Weiner and Ms. Abedin have been saying that his sexual behavior is not the public’s business. Well, it isn’t, until they make it our business by plunging into a political campaign.

Mr. Weiner says he is staying in the mayoral race. To those who know his arrogance and have grown tired of the tawdry saga he has dragged the city into, this is not surprising.

What's the difference between Dick Tracy and Anthony Weiner?

One's a private eye and the other eyes privates!!!

Weiner is so desperate for public office that he puts his wife, family and yes, even himself through this embarrassing episode over and over again. This man is really disturbed and totally pathetic.

Big deal---ANYTHING BUT QUNN OR BLOOMBERG !!!

"Weiner must think the voters are really stupid"
Correction: Weiner like the others KNOW NYC voters are the most stupid in the country !

Look, we have people like "Bitchy" Quinn and "Stonewall" Van Bramer to thank for this.

With their "anything is ok in the bedroom" which has opened the door to flaming transversites as Boy Scout leaders a person can now act as perverted and stupid as possible and short of murder it is beyond the public pale for criticism.

The problem, however, with "Bitchy" and "Stonewall" is how they treat the public as part of their public trust - "Stonewall" using his public office to cozy up to developers as builds his resume - and ignores the needs and best interests of his old friends and neighbors who elected him, and "Bitch" doing this to the city at large on things like term-limits and development.

Listen both of them and their condescending tone of voice.

IMHO, a violation of public trust trumps stupid private behavior every time. "Stonewall" and "Bitchy" and their ilk is a cancer to the hallowed traditions of the American political system.

Wiener is a merely an adolescent joke.

The bottom line is that the political class in NYC makes our city a mockery to the world.

I personally don't care what he does in his private life. This is totally being overblown because NY corrupt politics wants Quinn in which would be Bloomberg's 4th term and there is NO WAY i'm voting for a Bloomberg 4th term. It's so obvious what the papers and the Lame stream media is doing what amazes me is how so many people fall into lock step with all of it.
