Will this improve LaGuardia bus service?

From DNA Info:

The MTA is moving forward with a plan to revamp the city's bus service to LaGuardia Airport in Queens.

The agency will hold a hearing Wednesday night to solicit public feedback on a proposed new bus line, the Q70, which would offer limited service between the airport and two Queens transit hubs: the 61st Street station in Woodside and the 74th Street-Broadway station in Jackson Heights.

With the new bus line in place, the MTA would then shorten service on the local Q33, which currently runs between Jackson Heights and LaGuardia Airport. Under the proposal, the route would end just outside the airport, at 95th Street and Ditmars Boulevard in East Elmhurst.

The changes would go into effect this fall, and are part a proposal that was announced last year to improve transportation service to LaGuardia.

The MTA already constructed a rail link to LaGuardia about 10 yrs ago...it's adjacent to the BQE near Noorthern Bld and proceeds over the GCP and ends somewhere around there.
Don't know what happened ...why it was not finished.

Anon No. 5:

What happened was that you woke up and realized that you wwere dreaming. The MTA has built nothing there.

Take a drive over there ....the new tracks are there.

Anon No. 7:

The tracks by the BQE do not belong to the MTA. They have built nothing there. Those are the tracks leading to the Hell Gate Bridge. If anybody built any thing (and those tracks have been there since before the BQE was there), it was Amtrak or the freight line that runs there.

Any plan that the MTA had for building a subway line to La Guardia went out the window during the Giuliani administration. It was NIMBYed to death.

Quality of life? Astoria? That is new!!

That's a big joke after you let the Vallones push their zoning on your the least of your worries is the train to the airport.

The only reason that did not happen is there is a small clique that the Vallones listen to in their neighborhood and because of that, everyone else has to suffer.

Extending the N to LGA will only cause noise for two blocks of 31st Street between Ditmars Blvs and the power plant. Why should the rest of the city be inconvenienced for the sake of these two blocks?

The JFK Airtrain greatly benefited out city and the N to LGA will too.
