Missing woman has amnesia

From NBC:

The NYPD is seeking in help in identifying a woman who is apparently suffering from amnesia.

She was found standing on the corner of 16th Avenue and Bell Boulevard in Queens early Wednesday morning, police said. The woman does not remember her name, age, or residence.

Police said the woman appears to be about 55 years-old, 5’5" and 185 lbs. She was last wearing a white tee shirt, white tank top, and black skirt.

Authorities said they do not believe she is the victim of a crime, and she’s been taken to North Shore Hospital in stable condition.

I called the tips line, who transfered me to missing persons (she looks sort of like one of the women who works in the Bay Terrace Mall) - Guess what - they wouldn't TAKE my tip - "if you don't have the case number, there are so many missing people we can't do anything" - I read the description etc "sorry, we can't help you"

Gee - what good are they?

Now you know what the average cop goes through when they tey to get assistance from the completely useless Missing Persons Unit. They are lazy shits who will refuse paperwork for the most mundane reasons, prcatically slowing a missing persons case to a halt.

did you call that into 311? another waste of city money

If you truly think you know who this woman may be, please don't stop trying to get your info to the police. Call the 111 Pct.

I feel for this woman. I experienced a bout of amnesia in 2006. It lasted about 3 hours. I came to my senses in the Emergency Room of Flushing Hospital. If any of you are interested, I'll describe the very interesting circumstance that precipitated the event.

George ~ Am interested, please share?

Helen, I'm 50-50 on revealing this incident because it is of a highly personal nature. On the other hand, if I reveal it, it might save many of the readers similar physical anguish. I'll tell you what, if 9 more of the recognizable posters (no anonyms) ask, I'll come forth with my tale. But I need a clamor, a groundswell of support and encouragement. I guarantee you have never heard such a story. It will amaze and might even shock you.

George ~ OK, will wait. Or you might want to post it on your own "practically non-existent blog"...My "hit" was # 2001 :-)

George - I would say you had a stroke - a small one - a TIA it's called.

You can have a ministroke that goes undetected with a simple x-ray.

This poor woman may have had one also.

Also - if she does work in the Bay Terrace Mall, maybe the Mall security can help.

No one gives a shit george, get off your high horse.

Leave this woman alone! She's probably trying to forget that she lives in Queens, that crime is up, that the Mayor stole a third term and all those illegal aliens are in our midst. She's hoping to wake up in Kansas!

Helen, Arnie, and Babs. 7 more to go.

Ministroke.

Naaa, In Georges case it was likely stress induced.
I had amnesia once also after the Pink Floyd Concert. I came out of it one the L train in Carnarsie surrounded by cops.
I had taken a micro-dot tab not knowing 2 friends had already spiked the bottle of JD we brought in.
The 2 friends had were busted for smoking on the train on the way home to Ridgewood.
Amnesia and how your treated when the cops aren't sure your OK really is no joke.

Having a short bout of memory loss is called "global amnesia" It is not a mini-stroke. Happens to many people but should only happen once in alifetime.

georgetheatheist said...

TGA. "Transient Global Amnesia". Maspeth Mom is on the money. But your reference please as to it occurring only once in a lifetime?

(2 more to go.)

I lost my mind through an orgasm.

Sit down, me buckies, and I'll relate the adventure.

You see cholesterol, despite a negative reputation, is not ALL that bad. For one thing, it's function in the body is a reparative one. For example, cholesterol is needed to properly maintain the synapses (spaces) between the nerve cells.

At one point in my Journey through Life, I realized that my cholesterol level, particularly that of the artery-clogging Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), was too high. The negative of cholesterol is that it blocks the arteries and can lead to heart disease. Diet and exercise sometimes brings this LDL level down. But not always and medication such as statins is recommended by the medical establishment. I dieted and exercised (still do), but my LDL level was above 100. I took statin medication to get this level down. The doctors recommend that this level be under 100. [Aside to the reader, do you know your cholesterol levels? LDL and the other version, heart-protective High Density Lipoprotein (HDL)?]

In any event, I became obsessed with lowering my LDL level since my late father suffered from strokes. In May 2006, my LDL level was 40. I thought that was pretty good. No?

No. At this point, readers under 18 must leave the site.

During the course of a "nooner" on a warm May day as I was ejaculating into my paramour, I felt something radically wrong with the physiology.

Now men, you know that road you travel to get to the high point of wallowing up your physical being to place your seed into that voluptuary writhing around you? The breathing, the sweat, the undulations? If you sneeze, or the phone rings, or someone knocks on the door, you might as well put on your pants and walk the dog or watch the ballgame. It is an endeavor worthy of Hercules.

In any event, to paraphrase Caesar: Vidi, vici, veni. (I saw, I conquered, I came.)

Immediately during and after the gonad's explosion, I felt something sort of go click in my head. Still tumnescent and loin-conjoined I said to My Beloved: "Sweetie, I think I had a stroke." And with that, dear reader, I blacked out.

I awoke in the Emergency Room of Flushing Hospital 3 hours later, My Beloved beside me. She had summoned an ambulance of which I have absolutely no memory of riding in. She told me I even walked into the ER accompanied by personnel. Again, no recollection to this day.

The nurse told her to write on a sheet of paper what had transpired because I was asking over and over and over again what had happened. She was getting tired of repeating the course of events. When I asked again, she just handed me the paper to read. The ER doctor told me that I would be fine and that he's seen this before.

They admitted me and I underwent all kinds of tests and scans
for the next 2 days. (BTW, Flushing Hospital is a pretty nice place to stay. A lot of historical photos on the walls and the views are nice. When the time comes, I'd like to kick the bucket there.) Result? Everything was fine. I was diagnosed as having Temporary Global Amnesia.

I haven't had it since. I'm convinced through subsequent research that the culprit was the extremely low LDL level. During the orgasm that precipitated my amnesia, the synapses between my nerve cells were too large. Reparative cholesterol was lacking and when the orgasmic wave was moving through my body there was no proper bridging of the neurology.

I had my doctor reassess the medicine level. It was too strong. My recent LDL level was 70- low but not TOO low.I watch this "religiously". Fortunately, I had someone with me who was loving and responsive during the episode. Unfortunately, the poor woman in the post had no one to watch over her. I hope she is faring well.

This site is s-o-o-o educational.

Someone close to me had the same thing 3 years ago and I took them by ambulance to the old Booth Memorial. After Cat Scans, blood tests all sort of neuro-testing the doctors said TGA. They also said it usually only happens once to an individual. Very rare for it to happen again.

Babs said...

Yes, Babs, I want to tell you you're an asshole.

georgetheatheist said...

I am not an alcoholic. The point of the message was to show what can happen with too low LDL cholesterol. Why drunks lose their memory I can't explain. Maybe someone else can. Maspeth Mom, I'd still like to know why the doctors told you that TGA only happens once. Thanks.

George ~ Thanks for sharing. Happy that you "lost your mind" AND got it back :-D

They said not to worry about it happening again - they said is usually happens only one time to an individual. We were at the old Booth Memorial - in the Emergency Room for 2 days - That is what the ER Doc said when he handed over the discharge slip. That was several years ago and it has not happened again. I have not done any internet research on it.
