Is there not enough unused industrial land near the tracks elsewhere for the intermodal facility? Why not the sprawling Grumman site in Bethpage? Or the nearby Calverton facility?

Instead of cutting down forests, why not recycle existing unused facilities for this project?

The tree contractor is the same guy, also the same guy who cut the St.Saviors property in Maspeth.
One the trees are gone its easier to get variances (with some payola)to build.
Fines mean nothing, they just pay it as a tax to to things done

Some old Joni Mitchell song lyrics (1970s) :

"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot" !

".....Took all the trees and put 'em in a tree museum...."

".....and now they charge a dollar and a half
just to see 'em...."

"all in all..... you don't know what you've
got 'til it's gone".

"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot"!

joni was cool, perhaps not quite as good a singer as Katz, but still very good.

looks a little like a baseball field. Maybe they could move the Mets out there.

Maybe Katz can't sing so good any more
due to years of abusing her oral cavity!
