DEP double standard?

Pols, DEP, DOT to hold public flood forum in November
By: Jeremy Walsh, Times Ledger

Western Queens residents who suffered damage from the summer flooding will have a chance to get some answers from city and state agencies, U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-Jackson Heights) announced at a Community Board 2 meeting last week.

A public, town hall-style meeting to address infrastructure issues is set tentatively for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at St. Mary's Church, 70-31 48th Ave., Woodside.

Crowley, state Assemblywoman Marge Markey (D-Maspeth) and City Councilman Eric Gioia (D-Sunnyside) will be on hand, along with representatives from the city Department of Environmental Protection, the state Department of Transportation and the city comptroller's office, the congressman said.

Why can't the same be arranged for Community Board 5 by U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Kew Gardens), Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi (D-Forest Hills) and Councilman Dennis Gallagher (R-Middle Village)? So much for "take charge" leadership in this corner of Queens.

(See yellow sidebar text for info on secret meeting.)

If you want to entice Gallagher to a meeting with DEP reps simply tell him a busload of female seniors from nearby nursing homes will be in attendance. The grandma loving horn dog will be there faster than you can say "white dockers and powder blue shirt."

Notice how the November meeting is scheduled for AFTER the 90-day city deadline for filing a flooding claim. What will they offer victims that night? "Sorry, ma'am, you missed the deadline"?

Objection!

For DEP to have a 'Double Standard", it would first need to have a single standard.

Can DEP and all its supporters answer this: What was done with all the money collected for water and sewers for just the last 50 years?

This is a repeat of the "yello sidebar" referenced:
"Queens Community Board 5 and the Mayor's Community Affairs Unit cordially invite all Queens Crap readers to a secret session with the city's Department of Environmental Protection being held in the 3rd floor community room at the Atlas Park Mall on Thursday, October 11th at 7:30pm. (Enter near Amish Market) All attendees are encouraged to bring their gripes for rehashing."

Please be advised seating and standing room will be limited as Fat Joe so-mean-o has arisen from his coma and will be in attendance. Attendees are encouraged to bring towels as the mighty blowhard intends to spray everyone with his nonsensical- Sylvester-the-cat sound alike-let the spittle fly speech patterns.

Maybe JC can solve the flooding problem for us. If he could just do a cannonball, all the floodwater would be splashed into Manhattan in an eipc title wave.
