Let's face it. These buildings on Goldsmith Street in Elmhurst (one with the yellow box, and the other just to its left) just weren't long for this world with their zoning being R6B with a commercial overlay. But they were taken down - a little too quickly. But why let that stop them?
Now we have some crap in the making. The new addresses will be 51-36 (4 units), 51-38 (3 units) Goldsmith Street. Where there were 2 houses, there will now be 7 units of housing and 2 stores. But fear not - they are providing 2 parking spaces in the rear yard of ones of these buildings. This stretch of road experienced severe flooding this past summer. But that's ok, just keep building.

Yea, lets abolish term limits.

Of course they don't live there.
But filled with the tweeded and investment opportunities it is outdoubtedly one of the finest neighborhoods in Queens.

I went to a church in Elmhurst that is run a bit like a third world country - well at least they did not throw out the whites like some churches that Prof Sanjek of Queens College and his type rave over. A small clique calls all the shots and a pastor draws a $50k salary (and free parsonage, health benefits, and retirement contributions) for 3 hours of work a week - and has nothing to do with the congregation. Whenever you try to discuss something serious about it you get a goofy giggle from one of the immigrants who 'revitalized' the church, or so Sanjek tirelessly writes.
Sounds a bit like the entire boro of Queens, doesn't it? Oh yes, just about every immigrant is trying to get out of the community.
Great receipe to preserve a several hundred year old institution like that church, don't you think so?
No problem, maybe they can develop the site.
