You can learn a lot from a realtor

Eric Benaim of Nest Seekers International sent this in:

Is it me, or was this not part of the original planning?

Destruction of the Schwartz Chemical Plant

More photos of the annihilation here.

Update: A Stop Work Order exists on this property.

Of course, if its in Brooklyn, the Robling Society and the Municipal Art Society and the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance would have fought for it.

Let me tell you something fellows, because I know these words will get back to you.

Your days of neglect of Queens are over. Our home grown 'leadership,' those bumbling knuckleheads that permitted things like this in the past is all but discredited, for a number of reasons. Their days are numbered.

A new generation of militant preservationists are taking their place. And like any group systematically discriminated over and over again through time, they have spent thier time wisely for they have honed their weapons to a fine edge.

Your continued intentional neglect of Queens is going to come back to haunt you.

We are hungry. We are angry. And we are mean.

Don't say you have not been warned.

Did not the developer promise us the plant would be saved, only the stacks taken down?

That what the newspapers and politicians told us.

Where is Team Gioia. Oh thats, right, the pressing issue she has decided for the community is hunger.

Sorry, I thought she would think it would be saving the community.
